THE STUFF 1985 (TOP TEN)

Larry Cohen horror gem.

A mysterious goo from the earth in marketed to the American public as a new yogurt sensation and soon the entire country is being overrun by "Stuffies", zombie-like people who are intent on keeping The Stuff alive and well.

Michael Moriarty is Mo Rutherford, an industrial spy who is hired by a company to find out what the Stuff is made of. He finds out more than he ever imagined. The yogurt takes over your mind and your body and soon you are a zombie who is trying to spread the Stuff. After you are full of the Stuff it exits the body in a very gross manner. If it touches you it consumes you.

There are some very good effects with people being consumed by The Stuff and the social commentary is hot and heavy, but very true. The movie points out how people are addicted to certain brands of food without even thinking, but takes it to very bizarre extremes.

The cast also includes Andrea Marcovicci, Patrick O' Neal, Alexander Scourby, Danny Aiello, Paul Sorvino and Garrett Morris as "Chocolate Chip Charlie". There are a few plot gaps, and I am sure this is from editing for time and to make the story flow better, but it shouldn't hinder your enjoyment of this flick.
