BAD MANS RIVER 1971 (MILL CREEK)

Interesting cast in an off the wall western.

Lee Van Cleef stars as Roy King, a robber who had robbed a train and split the money with his partners.

King has his money stolen after he falls for a beautiful woman named Alicia (Gina Lollobrigida) who marries him and then steals the money with help from a gang she is in charge of.

King is then forced to get his buddies back together to go after the stolen money. There are plenty of double, double crosses , gunfights and some comedy and it's the comedy that hurts the film in my opinion.

James Mason's character of Francisco Montero hasn't a lot to do in this film and it's very odd to hear him with a dubbed voice. Anyway, as I said the comedy hurts the film in my opinion. It could have been so much more as a straight Spaghetti western as it has all the ingredients needed to make a great little film.

The film was directed by Eugenio Martin and he does a competent job with the material he's given. The two standouts in this film are the gorgeous Lollobrigida and Diana Lorys. Both of these women make the film tolerable.

If you're a Spaghetti Western fan you might want to see this, at least once.
