FOREST OF THE WOLF 1970 (SINISTER CINEMA)

Very rare and unusual film.

Jose Luis Lopez Vazquez stars as a peddler named Benito. He grows up and lives in a region where everyone is ignorant and full of fear.

After a childhood trauma he developes epilepsy and thsat makes the people of the village and surrounding area believe that Benito might just be a werewolf.

After hearing this most of his life he slowly comes to believe this and starts killing people whom he takes on trips into the woods. He does a good job of hiding his crimes, but it only lasts so long.

Soon people grow suspicious of Benito and with the blessing of the local church, they begin to hunt him like an animal. He gets caught in a leg trap deep in the forest and the angry mob finally catches him.

It's a pretty downbeat ending, but the film as a whole is very well done and they say based on actual events. Vazquez is excellent as the put upon Benito, and he creates a lot of empathy for the character.

This is a beautiful print with English subtitles and Sinister should be commended for letting people see this film. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
