Christopher Lee is Count Drago, a mysterious man whose castle contains strange things.
A small troupe of entertainers are invited to perform for the Count and his ugly henchman. It is soon revealed, after a few murders that the Count has perfected a formula which preserves the human body and the he has an entire room full of victims.
This is not a film with a lot of action, but it does bring a lot of suspense and some good comic relief. This is the film debut of Donald Sutherland who plays a Napoleonic Soldier and an old witch.
This used to play on TV all the time when I was growing up, and I never really liked it. It was only when I grew up that I appreciated the film for what it is. Sinister Cinema presents a good print of the film, but I wish it was in the proper aspect ratio. Oh well you can't have everything.
A good bet for horror fans.
