John Goodman turns in and excellent performance as Lawrence Woolsey a B movie maker who is premiering his new horror film, Mant, to an audience in key West Florida in 1962 during the Cuban missle crises.
Joe Dante directs with love for the genre and the times and Goodman plays his part, a William Castle type showman to perfection. The rest of the cast is excellnt as well including Dick Miller, Cathy Moriarty, Belinda Balaski and more.
The movie within a movie is a hoot and I wish it would be made into a feature film as well. Dante got great character actors of the past to star in it including William Schallert, Kevin McCarthy and Robert Conrthwaite.
