BURIAL GROUND: THE NIGHTS OF TERROR 1981 (SHRIEK SHOW)

One of the most bizarre zombie films ever.

This film first came to my attention on Vestron Video many years ago, and I was rather indifferent to the film. Now, about 15 years later and owning it on DVD, I find it to be one of the most disturbing zombies films ever made.

The zombies are all rotten corpses with worms and maggots falling off of them, and yes, they do have an appetite for human flesh. It seems a professor brought them to life by accident when he opened a long sealed tomb. The professor has invited six people up to his mansion to announce the discovery.

When the guests arrive, they don't find the professor, but they do discover that corpses are walking around the grounds and before you know it the entire group is under siege. The killings are full of gore which you'll either like or hate depending on what you like in a film.

The people at the mansion act very stupid when it comes to defending themselves and many of the victims deserve to die. Of all the things that happen in this film, it is probably most famous for the casting of Peter Bark as Michael. Now Michael is supposed to be a child, but he is clearly a "little person" playing a child and shortly after a zombie attack he stays with his mother and soon is fondling her breasts and feeling up her dress. This easily is the most bizarre thing I have ever seen in any film.

Karen Well is simply stunning to look at as the mother of this deranged "boy". When Bark's character of Michael is killed, the ensuing scene is something to behold. I won't tell you about it because I don't want to spoil it if you've never seen it. Suffice to say, this film should be seen by every horror fan.
