SPACE CHILDREN 1958 (OLIVE)

Revisiting a still undiscovered film.

Director Jack Arnold is best known for his series of horror films he made for Universal including "Creature from the Black Lagoon", but this is one he made for Paramount and for some reason it is not talked about very much.

A small group of families is moved to a secret base where a six stage rocket has been constructed and will soon be tested. On the beach in a cave near the sight a group of children come under the control of a weird looking "brain" from outer space that has come to earth to make sure the rocket test fails.

It controls the children of the people who work at the base. The alien fears man is not ready for such a rocket to be used and will stop at nothing to destroy it.

A highly unusual film from the late 50's that has fallen thru the cracks. Olive gives us a beautiful print on both VD and Blu-ray. I never got a chance to see this film until the 80's when Commander USA ran it on the USA Network on his Groovy Movies show.

The cast is impressive and includes Raymond Bailey, Adam Williams, Johnny Crawford, Russell Johnson, Jackie Coogan, and Peggy Webber.
