10. MARTIN 1977...George Romero will always be the king of modern horror, and this is his take on the vampire legend. THE most original horror film ever made, and John Amplas is excellent in the title role of the supposed blood sucker.
9. NORLISS TAPES 1972...One of the most terrifying movies I have ever seen. Roy Thinnes stars as David Norliss, a writer who gets involved in a supernatural murder involving a walking dead man. The same people who brought us "The Night Stalker" and "Night Strangler" made this as well. Angie Dickinson and gorgeous Vonetta McGee also star. I didn't sleep for days after seeing this.
8. CALTIKI THE IMMORTAL MONSTER 1959...Great Italian horror thriller about a huge blob-like monster coming to life. Stark black and white photography and a very cool monster. I first saw this as a kid and fell in love with it. Luscious Daniela Rocca never looked better in any movie than she does here.
7. FROGS 1972...Saw this when I was 9 and it has haunted me ever since. Ray Milland stars as a man whose family is being terrorized by frogs, spiders, lizards, snapping turtles and everything else. Sadly the only horror film JUDY PACE ever made, but oh my what she did to me as a kid and what she does to me now watching this film is something I probably shouldn't mention here.
6. NIGHT STALKER 1972...Darren McGavin stars as Carl Kolchak, a reporter in Las Vegas who has stumbled onto a real life vampire who is killing women. One of the scariest TV movies ever made and certainly the most memorable. The highest rated TV movie of it's time, it spawned a second film and a TV series.
5. CREEPSHOW 1982...George Romero's damn near perfect homage to EC Comics. I saw this in the theater about 20 times and then rented it in VHS about as many until I finally decided to buy a copy. Simply the best omnibus film ever made. A great cast, solid acting and nothing but fun for twp hours. This film was the inspiration for me making my last film "Tales Of The Damned" a comic book movie. Long Live EC Comics.
4. EQUINOX 1970...I used to own a 200 foot super 8 film reel of this and finally got to see the entire film on Creature Features with Bob Wilkins when I was a teenager. This little film captivated me so much I made two short super 8 movies based on it and I loved the Criterion DVD that had both this version and the original 1967 student film version. Four young people travel to see a college professor only to get involved with a mysterious book on witchcraft. The devil comes a callin' with some pretty cool monster to get the book back.
3. THE BLOB 1958... The first horror film I ever saw and it scared me to death! It started me on this obsession with movies that I have now. Steve McQueen stars in this classic thriller about an alien organism that consumes humans and grows larger with each victim.
2. DAWN OF THE DEAD 1978...The second greatest horror film ever made comes again from George Romero. Four people fight a zombie apocalypse inside a mall. Still, after all these years this is one of the most horrifying films one will ever see. There is plenty of flesh eating and gore and the action is almost non stop. Many people consider this the greatest Romero film ever, a title it may well deserve.
1. NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD 1968...No explanation needed here. Everyone knows I think this is the greatest movie of all time! George Romero set the standard very, very high with this.
The next list will be composed of what I consider to be the 10 worst films ever made.
