This is a bizarre Spanish horror film involving a mad scientist trying to create aquatic monsters using fluid from the pineal glad located in the human brain. He uses the fluid from wrestlers because he thinks they are the best suited to start his new race.
The police are baffled so they call on a sexy professional female wrestler called "Batwoman" to help solve the crimes. Maria Monte is stunning in her mask and blue bikini as she fights crime.
This was made in mexico as an attempt to cash in on the "Bat Craze" sweeping the US during and after the run of "Batman" here in the US and I must say he succeeded very well. The movie has a very 60's feel to it and it even has that classic 60's film stock look.
The new DVD release has a new dubbed soundtrack and that has been a point of contention for a lot of people who like films like this. I had no problem with my Spanish version which I reviewed here a few years ago, but I personally was happy to see it released in an English dub and such beautiful quality.
I think VCI did a good job with this and I hope they do more. These films are always a sheer joy to watch and if you haven't seen this one yet, you need to. Monti is simply stunning. The rest of the cast includes Roberto Canedo and Armando Silvestre. The film is a double feature with another wrestling women classic entitled "The Panther Women" which I will be reviewing soon.
