THE SEDUCTION 1981 (ANCHOR BAY)

This classic film stars the very sexy Morgan Fairchild as a reporter stalked by a psycho played very well by Andrew Stevens. His character turns her life into a living hell by stalking her, sending her unwanted gifts, phone calls and finally attempted rape.
This is a finely crafted film and everyone plays their parts very, very well. Michael Sarrazin stars a Fairchild's lover who buys her a shotgun to use and Vince Edwards is the cop who is unable to help at all.
A tense film that builds slowly to the inevitable climax of doom and despair. Check it out, this is a long overlooked genre classic.

THE HEAD 1959 (ALPHA)

Bizarre German horror film with basically the same premise as Brain That Wouldn't Die.
A mad scientist keeps the head of his former boss alive and proceeds to transplant the head of a deformed woman onto the sexy body of a stripper. The film is well done, and the US print is missing several minutes of nudie footage, but it in no way inhibits the plot.
The acting is ok for a film like this and the effects are very good as well. If you are in the mood for fun sci-fi and horror check this one out.

AMERICAN TOP 40 THE 80'S

This weekends edition of AT 40 the 80's goes back to 3/28/1981, a time when
Frankie & The Knockouts sang about a "Sweetheart", Pat Benatar told everyone to "Treat Me Right", Eric Clapton said "I Can't Stand It", Dolly Parton worked "9 to 5", and Styx had "The Best Of Times", plus so much more.
Listen to Casey Kasem count them down this weekend on WMGN in Madison, WI. The show starts at 1PM eastern time.

AMERICAN TOP 40 THE 70'S

This weekends edition of AT 40 the 70's takes us back to 4/3/1976, one of the best times in Top 40 radio when Nazareth found out "Love Hurts", Larry Groce was a "Junk Food Junkie", The Sylvers has "Boogie Fever", and Gary Wright was a "Dream Weaver" plus much more.
Listen to Casey Kasem count them down on AT 40 the 70's this weekend on WMGN in Madison, WI starting at 10PM eastern time.

RIP WARREN STEVENS 1919-2012

One of the greatest supporting actors in movies has passed away at the age of 92 from lung disease.
Genre fans will remember Stevens from his role in the classic sci-fi film Forbidden Planet and Cyborg 2087 (one of my personal favorite movies), and hundreds of TV shows like Land Of The Giants, Petrocelli, Star Trek, Mannix, Tarzan and many more.
He started his career in 1948 on live TV and then moved to movies with his first role in The Frogmen with Richard Widmark and then his role as a reporter in the Humphrey Bogart classic Deadline USA.
A true actor, unlike todays crowd and one who knew his craft well.

QUEEN KONG 1976 (RETROMEDIA)

Another one of a kind film!! Made in 1976, this ultra rare and bizarre movie was banned from being shown after Dino DeLaurentis sued to have showings stopped when he claimed in was a copyright infringement on his remake of King Kong.
Frank Agrama directed this weird turn around take on the story. Sexy Rula Lenska is a movie director named Luce Habit who kidnapped a gay man named Ray Fay played by Robin Askwith and they travel to an island and meet an all female tribe ruled by the lucious Valerie Leon who worship a giant female ape named Kong.
The ape falls for Fay and you know the rest. London is destroyed, people break out in musical numbers for no apparent reason and one of my favorite British actresses, Linda Hayden is on hand in a brief scene as a singing nun on an airplane that Kong destroys.
None of this is to be taken very seriously of course, and the movie does poke fun at homesexuality and women lib, both topics long overdue for some ribbing.
The film actually works on many levels and it is a very good thing that Retromedia finally got this gem out to be seen again. If you want something completely different, check it out.

Q THE WINGED SERPENT 1982 (ANCHOR BAY)

This highly entertaining film from larry Cohen stars Michael Moriarty as a loser criminal who suddenly finds himself the savoir of New York when he discovers the hiding place of a giant prehistoric bird that is killing people in New York.
Great shots of the monster killing people on rooftops and such. The stop motion animation is excellent and David Carradine and Richard Roundtree are very good as the two cops investigating the case as well as Moriarty's criminal activity.
Check this movie out. I highly recommend anything Cohen makes.

THE CHILDREN 1980 (TROMA)

This lost little gem is about school children on a bus that drives thru a radioactive cloud and become zombies with black fingernails who burn their victims to death. The parents are usually presented as people who don't really even like their children and the killings are gruesome but well done. This film was actually one of the top grossing money makers of it's time upon release. I like this film a lot and have seen it many times. It's odd to see singer Gale Garnett as the women who survives the ordeal only to give birth to her baby after all the slaughter is over. Very entertaining horror film should please a lot of horror fans.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO....

RETURNING TO IDAHO

NIGHT OF THE LEPUS 1972 (WARNER)

I might be the only fan of this movie too, but I doubt it. Most people I know won't admit they like it.
Stuart Whitman is a scientist who is asked to help control the rabbit population near a small town in Arizona. His daughter lets one of the test animals escape. Soon a huge army of giant flesh eating rabbits is on the loose. The actors all play this very straight, which they should.
Janet Leigh, Rory Calhoun and Paul Fix are just some of the many veteran actors who are in this cast.
I have always liked this movie and saw it on a triple feature once with Twins of Evil and Hands of The Ripper, and I never forgot it.
I was very glad Warner decided to make this available finally. I Recommend it, but to each their own.

BIRTHDAY WISHES TO....

Diana Ross is 68, Sara Jean Underwood is 28, Vicki Lawrence is 63, Leonard Nimoy is 81, and James Caan is 71.

RIP ROBERT FUEST 1927-2012

Prolific British director Robert Fuest died on March 21 at the age of 84. Fuest directed some of the most entertaining films of the horror genre such as Abominable Dr. Phibes, Dr. Phibes Rises Again, And Soon The Darkness, The Devil's Rain and many more.
Another is gone, and they just don't have talented directors of the kind anymore.

BIRTHDAY WISHES TO.....

FIRST MEN IN THE MOON 1964 (COLUMBIA)

Based on the H.G. Wells novel of the same name, this movie stars Lionel Jeffries as prof. Cavor, an eccentric inventor who developes a strange substance that defies gravity. He builds a sphere with the help of a young man named Arnold Bedford, played by Edward Judd, and the attempts to launch it to the moon.
They succeed and along for the ride if Kate Callender played by Martha Hyer. They find the moon inhabited by "Selenites" which are weird moon people who resemble bugs.
The story is very entertaining with much intentional comedy but the original story has been changed a lot for the sake of the film. the ray harryhausen effects are as always. very good.
This is a highly recommended movie for lovers of sci-fi.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO.....

William Smith is 79.

LEGEND OF HILLBILLY JOHN 1974 (DVD-R)

Jack Harris released this wonderful obscure gem in 1974, and I finally saw it in the 90's for the first time.
Hedges Capers plays John, a wandering ballad singer who fights the forces of evil and Satan where ever he goes in his travels thru the Applachain Mountains.
This is a rare and wonderful film full of great music mostly written by Capers and Hoyt Axton, ok effects, great scenery and excellent acting from such talents as Susan Strasberg, R.G. Armstrong, Severn Darden, Denver Pyle and many more.
This should of had a DVD release years ago, but good films are often overlooked for the recent boring bockbusters.
If you manage to see this film you will enjoy it. Recommended!!

BIRTHDAY WISHES TO....

Vanessa Morgan is 20, Corinne Clery is 62, and Barbara Rhoades is 65.

THE UNDYING MONSTER 1942 (FOX)

Interesting and well made horror film about a werewolf terrorizing the countryside of an old estate. John Braham directed this short little film, and it has a very good pace to it.
If you enjoy well made horror films, I recommend this sadly forgotten thriller from the early 40's. This was the film debut of actor Charles McGraw who went on to star in many films including Night Stalker (1974), Reign of Terror, Armored Car Robbery, The Killers, The Mad Ghoul and hundreds more TV and movies.

JENNIFER'S BODY 2009 (20TH CENTURY FOX)

Megan Fox is Jennifer, a sexy highschool cheerleader who is used as a sacrifice to Satan by a rock group wishing to obtain fame and fortune. She claims she is a virgin and they kill her, but she is no virgin and is now a killer demon who craves human blood.
This is a very well crafted horror thriller that has some comedy, but not a lot, and that is a good thing. Strange, interesting ans scary at the same time. Check it out, if you want. I think you'll like this.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO....

William Shatner is 81, and Mary Tamm is 62.

RAMBLINGS

Just have to add my two cents worth to the media invented "controversy" about the New Orleans Saints. It seems the liberals and left winger have taken over football as well. Football is a rough sport, and for years the cry baby libtards have been trying to eliminate ANY risk in the game.
That's because libtards DONT risk anything, unless it is someone else's money.
The Saints have done nothing that any other team isn't doing now anyway. My god, some of these players ever wear pink, and that is a disgrace. Who really gives a shit about "bounty" money on other players.
Grow a set and let's get over it. America is nothing but a wimpy country anymore with no guts and no risk takers...only cry babies.

SWAMP COUNTRY 1966 (SOMETHING WEIRD)

Shot on location in the Okfenokee by director Robert Patrick, this film is about a man accused of strangling a woman who escapes from the police and evades them by hiding in the swamp. While police hunt him, he seeks the real killer.
Lyle Waggoner is the deputy and Rex Allen is the Sheriff. Allen went on to bigger fame narrating Disney documentaries like Living Desert.
The catchy title song "Swamp Country" was written and is performed by the star of the film Baker Knight. The locations are beautiful and alluring.
Check out this film and forget about reality tv trash like Swamp People, this is the real deal.

HARDWARE WARS 1977 (MICHAEL WIESE PRODUCTIONS)

This is the most famous movie spoof ever made. It grossed over one million dollars on it's 8000 dollar budget making it's profit margin ever better than Star Wars!!
If you are a Star Wars fan you'll love this 13 minute spoof, and even if you aren't a fan you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll kiss 20 bucks goodbye...and have a great time.
Too bad such talented men like Ernie Fosselius are few and far between, because then we could have much better made films and some good laughs.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

BLACK ANGEL 2 1999 (TOKYO SHOCK)

This is a bleak and sometimes disturbing look at a hitwoman who slowly descends into alcoholism and self loathing. The violence is sometimes over the top and the movie will disturb some viewers, but this is a far superior film to the original, which is a rare case indeed.
