Usually I compile the Top 50, but there were too many and I decided to go with 60. I could easily have made it 70 or 80. In this countdown over the next six weeks you'll see several TV shows and a whole hell of a lot of bizarre films.
Some of the companies represented here include Sinister Cinema, Arrow, Well Go USA, Shout Factory and many more. The countdown includes many different genres of film and a few surprises. Let's get started....
60. JUSTINE 2016 (PACHAMAMA FILMS)...A very interesting variation of the story by the Marquis De Sade starring the lovely Amy Hesketh as the ill fated Justine.
59. FAHRENHEIT 451 1966 (UNIVERSAL) Blu-ray...The classic sci-fi film about a future world where books are banned is really more timely today than when it was first released. Based on the story by Ray Bradbury.
58. DOOMWATCH 1972 (KINO) Blu-ray...This was a surprise release as I never expected to see this neglected gem released anywhere. A scientific team investigates an island where the people living there are being slowly contaminated with radioactive chemicals and other pollution.
57. RIDE THE HIGH COUNTRY 1962 (WARNER ARCHIVE) Blu-ray...This magnificent western from Sam Peckinpah got a great Blu-ray treatment from Warner and it's about time. Starring Joel McCrea and Randolph Scott as two men who time is leaving behind as the old west changes.
56. THE LONER 1965-66 (SHOUT FACTORY)...This TV show starring Lloyd Bridges and written by Rod Serling is nothing but entertaining. Not your usual run of the mill western TV show. Highly recommended for ANY western fan. The show only ran for one season from 1965-1966, but it's a gem.
55. DECOY 1957-58 ( FILM CHEST)... Another one season wonder TV show, but a VERY welcome addition to the DVD market. Beverly Garland stars as a police woman in the first ever show of it's kind.
54. THE GOLEM 1935 (SINISTER CINEMA)...A very rare French version of the classic tale about a huge stone statue that come to life and avenges it's people who are being oppressed by a greedy government.
53. SLAVE GIRLS OF SHEBA 1962 (SINISTER CINEMA)... It was great to see this adventure film starring the incredibly sexy Linda Cristal come to DVD. I have always loved this film and while the 16mm print from Sinister is a little worn, it still looks good and it's even a color print.
52. WESTERN SHOWDOWN COLLECTION VOL. 1 (MILL CREEK)...A great collection of 7 westerns!! TEXAS, BLAZING ACROSS THE PECOS, THEY CAME TO CORDURA, THE MAN FROM COLORADO, GUN FURY, THE BLACK DAKOTAS and J.W. COOP. If you like westerns you simply cannot miss this set.
51. THE RED QUEEN KILLS SEVEN TIMES 1972 (ARROW) Blu-ray...Barbara Bouchet and Sybil Danning star in this excellent Giallo about a mysterious female killer.
