Diahann started her long career in 1954 in the movie "Carmen Jones" and after that she appeared in many TV shows until she hit the big time in 1968 with the series "Julia". The show ran for 86 episodes over three years and was groundbreaking in the depiction of a black female lead.
I watched the show all three years growing up and also loved her in the movie "The Split" which came out in 1968 as well.
Carroll appeared in other films such as "Death Scream", "Hurry Sundown" and "Claudine". Her other TV appearances include "Peter Gunn", "The Colby's", "Dynasty" and "A Different World".
A beautiful and talented actress who will be missed. She passed away on Oct. 4th, 2019 at the age of 84.
