I would probably put this film in the same category as "Deathbed: The Bed That Eats" and "Horrors Of Malformed Men" and that is saying something.
A young girl has a pair of earring stolen from her and thus sets in motion a very bizarre story. This movie is based on a 1945 Chech novel of the same name.
A constable is trying to get the earrings after they are returned to Valerie the next morning. In trying to understand what is happening, Valerie sets off on an adventure where she meets many bizarre people including a coven of vampires.
There are way too many set pieces to discuss here, but take my word for it, this is a bizarre, but very entertaining picture. I must be showing my age, but when I read that it is a story of a young girls sexual awakening, I am lost on that.
I never really read anything sexual into most of the movie although there is some sexual content. Maybe I missed the point of the film all together, but I still enjoyed it because of its very nature.
The print is subtitled, of course and if you want to see something vastley different, you really should check this out. The print is beautiful and so is a lot of the scenes in this movie.
