One of the pioneers of bringing music into peoples lives has passed away this morning following a massive heart attack. Dick Clark hosted American Bandstand from 1952 to 1989.
Clark was a DJ and helped Casey Kasem in the early days of American Top 40 as well with a suggestion that Casey tape all of his segments first and have them edited in instead of recording the entire show as they were doing at first.
Anyone my age was influenced by Clark and will always remember him as the King of New Years Eve.
He even hosted a countdown show in the 80's called American Music Survey, which I have a few of the original episodes on disc and cd.
Clark even filled in for Casey Kasem a few times on AT 40. Clark was a man whom I will never forget and who every Saturday played some of the greatest music around, of which I still listen to to this day.Besides the music Clark had his own production company which produced dozens of made for TV movies and special events. He was 82.
