This is the first sound remake of the Alfred Hitchcock film and based on jack The Ripper. This is not a bad film at all, and the original silent film was entitled "The Lodger", which of couse was remade in 1944 with Laird Cregar and then in 1955 as Man In The Attic with Jack Palance.
This film is lead by Ivor Novello, who overacts because I am sure he had never done a sound picture before this one. It does have a few bizarre twists and an early role by Jack Hawkins as the reporter on the story.
If you're looking for a way to kill an hour or so this is a good way to do it, just don't expect much and you'll be fine. Not bad of it's kind, but not the best either.
