ADVENTURE ISLAND 1947 (SINISTER CINEMA)

I hadn't seen this movie for at least 2 decades, and the last time I saw it, it was black and white.

This color print looks ok, but it really needs a remaster. Three men are arrested and throw in jail. One of the men, Donald Lochlin (Paul Kelly) used to Captain a ship.

He and the other two men, Herrick (Rory Calhoun) and Huish (John Abbott) are released from jail in order to take a ship loaded with alchohol to it's intended destination.

Huish starts a fire on board the ship while drunk and that sets them behind schedule. Then they find that the cargo they are carrying is nothing but water and was intended to rip people off.

Also on this ship is a lovely woman named Faith (Rhonda Fleming). All of these people end up on an island ruled by a man named Attwater (Alan Napier) who has the local natives believing that he is a God, because he saved some of them from a disease.

Attwater has been sole ruler on the island for many years and he has slowly gone insane. When he has company he does not accept it too well and this all results in the death of both Huish and Capt. Lochlin.

Attwater meets his demise and only Herrick and Faith escape. This is an action/adventure film directed by Sam Newfield and from what I read it was filmed in 29 days, which was the longest schedule Newfield ever had.

It's not a bad film and of course, Fleming looks fantastic in color.
