Orson Wells directed, wrote and stars in this classic film about a media tycoon who dies and the press tries to discover meaning behind his final word which is "Rosebud".
Wells patterned the character of Charles Foster Kane after mogul William Randolph Hearst. When the film was released it was a financial disaster and Hearst wanted all prints destroyed. Over the years this film has rightfully become the classic it deserved to be in the first place.
The meaning of the word "Rosebud" resounds with all of us as there is always something we cherish in our hearts and minds, no matter what we go on and do in life. A great cast includes Agnes Moorehead, Joseph Cotton, Ray Collins, Dorothy Comingore, Paul Stewart and Everette Sloane.
This movie is definitive viewing and should be seen at least once by everyone.
