THE LOST WORLD 1961 (FOX)

Irwin Allen directed this dino flick.

Claude Rains stars as George Edward Challenger who leads an expedition to a lost plateau where dinosaurs still exist. The movie uses lizards made up like dinosaurs instead of stop motion effects because it was a very expensive process and Fox didn't have the budget for that, but the effects they do use are still good however.

Rains does a great job as the grouchy Challenger and Michael Rennie is a big game hunter who goes along for the adventure. The rest of the cast is rounded out by David Hedison as a reporter, sexy as hell Jill St. John, Fernando Lamas, Jay Novello and the highly underrated and gorgeous Vitina Marcus who plays a native girl and who seemed to work exclusively for Allen as she appeared in all of his TV shows as well in small roles.

This isn't a bad movie by any means and it makes good Saturday afternoon viewing if it is raining and you have nothing to do. Recommended!
