THE DEVIL CAME FROM AKASAVA 1970 (SINISTER CINEMA)

A slice of great pop culture from Spain and director Jess Franco.

A stone is discovered that can turn metal to gold and it even has a side effect of turning people into mindless zombies. One of these mysterious stones is stolen and that sets up this bizarre film.

Several secret agents are sent in top find the stone and get it back before trouble ensues. Fred Williams stars as Rex Forrester, a young man whose is seeking the stone that his father discovered and was murdered for.

Along the way he meets Jane Morgan (Soledad Miranda) a beautiful dancer in a club that is actually a secret agent undercover also looking for the missing stone.

There are plenty of shootouts and plot twists as everything comes to a somewhat rushed conclusion. The rest of the cast in this Franco epic includes Howard Vernon, Horst Tappert, Walter Rilla, Paul Muller and beautiful Ewa Stromberg.

The was the final film Miranda worked on before her sad and untimely death at the age of 27 from an auto accident. She uses the name Susann Korda in this and other films she was in. If I recall correctly she made about 30 films in her short career and 7 were released after she had died. A most beautiful woman that captivates every time you see her.

This is a bizarre film, but fun. The print looks great and it is subtitled in English.
