I have to admit I have never taken the time to watch this movie until now, but it has been around for me to see since the VHS days. I guess I just kept putting it off until now.
Christopher Lee stars as the Count in this tale that sticks pretty close to the original novel by Bram Stoker. In this version Dracula starts out as an old man and gradually gets younger as he drinks more blood.
Dracula is pursued by Jonathan Harker ( Fred Willliams), Prof. Van Helsing (Herbert Lom) and Quincey Morris (Jack Taylor). When they finally catch the monster they dish out their revenge. It's a great scene.
Sexy Maria Rohm is Mina Murray and gorgeous Soledad Miranda is the doomed Lucy Westerna. The photography is lush and very colorful with Lee giving a top notch performance.
There are some great set pieces, especially when Dracula is telling Harker about what beautiful sound the wolves make. All together I thought this was a very good film and I would easily recommend it.
The rest of the cast includes Klaus Kinski, Jess Franco, Teresa Gimpera, Paul Muller and Emma Cohen.
