SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE SECRET WEAPON 1942 (MPI)

Filmed in 1942 and released in February of 1943, this is the second Holmes film set during WW2.

In this outing Holmes (Basil Rathbone) and Watson (Nigel Bruce) are assigned to protect a Swiss inventor who has invented a very destructive weapon for use against the Nazi regime.

The inventor, Dr. Franz Tobel (William Post, Jr.) is being transported out of Switzerland to England with the Gestapo in hot pursuit. He has developed a very accurate bomb site and the Nazi's want it.

Inspector Lestrade (Dennis Hoey) is on hand to help Holmes and Watson and they not only have their hands full with the Gestapo, but with the evil Dr. Moriarty (Lionel Atwill) who has sold his services to the Germans.

Tobel is kidnapped by Moriarty and it's up to the master sleuth's to decipher a mysterious clue left behind by the scientist. This is a wonderful and exciting entry in the series.

If you're a Holmes fan you wont want to miss this little WW2 gem. The rest of the cast includes Mary Gordon as Mrs. Hudson, Rudolph Anders, Kaaren Verne, Vedas Ann Borg, Paul Fix and Michael Mark.
