HARD BOILED MAHONEY 1947 (WARNER ARCHIVE)

William Beaudine directed this 6th entry in the long running series.

I liked this comedy and it even had a few laugh out loud moments for me. Slip (Leo Gorcey) and the gang are dragged into the detective business with the disappearance of a young woman.

Slip and Sach (Huntz Hall) find themselves in a predicament with a phoney psychic and his gang. I found some genuine laughs here, especially when Slip meets the psychic's partner named Hasson (Noble Johnson) and Sachs classic "Hasson" joke.

The film is only 63 minutes and it moves along at a great pace. It's nice to have simple movies like this to come home to when I am dead tired from working.

I would recommend this for anyone who hasn't seen a Bowery Boys movie as this is a good place to start if you're curious about the series.

The radio quiz show scene is also good for some great laughs, at least in my opinion. See it and decide for yourself. The rest of the cast includes Bobby Jordan, Gabriel Dell, Betty Compson, Bernard Gorcey, Teala Loring, Byron Foulger and Danny Beck.
