In some ways this film from over 60 years ago mirrors society here in the USA in 2025.
Jean Servais stars as a politician on the rise named Maurice Leprince who is also involved in an organized crime ring and several murders.
Fernando Gomez is Detective Miguel Mora, who is investigating a murder that is tied to Leprince, but he cannot prove it. He gets deeper and deeper into the case and is warned by his chief to stop.
He finally uncovers the truth about Leprince and all hell breaks loose. This is a wonderfully told story about corruption and crime involving phony politicians and businessmen.
Jess Franco made this during the Franco regime in Spain, and I am shocked it actually got any release at all considering what was going on at the time. The lighting is very noirish as it should be, and the ending is downbeat since everyone has their life shattered by the events.
The Blu-ray is excellent and it's great that Severin decided to bring this Franco noir out again. It's a must see for his fans. The disc has English subtitles.
Highly Recommended!!
