DUSK TILL DAWN TRASH O RAMA VOL. 1 1996 (SOMETHING WEIRD VIDEO)

One of the best collections of trailers ever released, and of course it comes from Something Weird.

There is about 90 minutes of great coming attractions from movies such as SAVAGE SISTERS, BIG DOLL HOUSE, BIG BIRD CAGE, BLACK BELT JONES, VAMPIRES NIGHT ORGY, SIMON, KING OF THE WITCHES, SWISS CONSPIRACY and so much more.

There are even some intermission shorts that always played at the theaters when I was young.

The collection brings back a lot of memories and was a hell of a lot of fun to watch on Halloween morning. Nobody, simply nobody put together collecions as goos a this except Something Weird.

If you get a chance, I would check this out...if you can find it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

THE APE MAN 1943 (SINISTER CINEMA)

Wow, after so much mordern horror films, I had to go back to my roots.

Bela Lugosi stars as Dr. James Brewster, a man onsessed with his experiments. He has accidentally turned himself into an ape man and now he seeks a cure.

The cure involves killing people and taking some of their spinal fluid. Two reporters, Billie Mason (Louise Currie) and Jeff Carter (Wallace Ford) are on the story and trying to find the mysterious killer.

Brewster uses an ape to kill his victims and forces a doctor to inject him with the fluid. James sister Abigail (Minerva Urecal) helps him but gets caught by the police.

In the thrilling ending, Billie is trapped in the lab with the ape that has now killed Brewster and is running wild. The police kill the monster and BIllie and Jeff look like they might have a future ahead of them.

Yes, this is a silly film, but it is FUN and God knows I needed it after all of the previous reviews I have done in the last week and a half. William Beaudine directed this Monogram favorite.

LAST OF THE LIVING 2009 (ECHO BRIDGE)

One of countless zombie films made during the 2000's, but not too bad of a film.

Three somewhat lazy guys are holed up in a house as a strange virus sweeps over the world. It seems that people are being turned into walking dead, and it bitten you become one within an hour or so.

These three guys live a rather safe life except when they have to go out for supplies or just to get out for a while.

After a while they stumble upon a young woman who just may have the cure to this disease and of course, they all volunteer to help her. They also hit on her quite a bit. As she gets the cure ready one of the men is bitten and sacrifices his life for his frineds and the woman.

The young woman is also bitten as they feel to an airplane to take them to an island that is supposed to be safe. She turns into a flesh eater mid flight and the plane is landed by the nerd of the party.

Sadly they find the island inhabited by zombies as well and they seem to be faster moving than others. The last survivor is attacked by his now dead friend and the cure is slapped from his hand and lands in the ocean as they fight on a small boat. The movie ends on a rather down note with the nerd survivng in a rowboat in the ocean with no hope of survival.

This is a well made film that will hold your attention, and that is rare for films made in this day and age. They are characters you can actually care about and the downbeat ending does depress a little.

If you're looking for a good zombie movie made in the past 20 years, this is one of them.

CURSE OF THE WOLF 2007 (ECHO BRIDGE)

This film is absolute garbage.

A young woman named Dakota (Renee Porada) is a werewolf who is trying to escape from the pack she belongs to.

Now this is a simple enough plot and you'd think the film makers would know what to do, correct? Well they screwed it up big time. I'm not usually one to tear films apart, but damn, I have been seeing some real shit here lately and I'm tired of modern film makers screwing movies up.

There is a lot of bad gore and sloppy effects in this film and the acting is..well....nuff said. The men in the film are portrayed as rapists and predators which is idiotic and so typical of certain film makers today.

I didn't enjoy anything about this film, and I could go on and on but what is the point. It's terrible and I advise you avoid this at all costs. It's not even good for a laugh. Sad to see Darian Caine wasted as well as Lanny Poffo and Brian Heffron.

GRINDHOUSE HORRORS 1992 (CORPSE COLLECTIVE)

A great collection of trailers from many, many grindhouse films.

Some of the great trailers include LIVING DEAD AT THE MANCHESTER MORGUE, BATTLE OF THE AMAZONS, RUN SWINGER RUN, THE DEPRAVED, DERANGED, MASSACRE AT CENTRAL HIGH, VIRGIN WITCH, RABID, DEEP RED, MANIAC and so much more.

These are a hoot to watch and I always enjoy a good trailer fest. This one runs about 100 minutes and I cannot recommend this enough. It's crazy and fun.

Yes, this is a short review because what else can I say except if you like watching ads for off the wall horror, chop socky and monster movies, this is for you.

BLOOD PREDATOR 2007 (ECHO BRIDGE)

It seems that almost every year I get a ton of movies to look at that disappoint me, and this is one of them.

Several very dislikable people are on an airplane heading for a ski trip weekend when it developes problems and if forced to land in the snowy mountains.

They find a cabin in the woods and enter it, only to find an alien monster hiding in it that loves to eat human flesh. Now, there is the plot, plain and simple.

However, there is so much more to talk about. When the plane crashes there is a lot of snow around, however when the people are walking to the cabin the ground is bare and dry with green grass!!! How in the hell do you not have continuity with this??

Nothing more is mentioned of the pilot, so we have to assume he was killed and for over an hour we have to listen to these people bicker and fight before the alien appears. Now, the alien is something else altogether.

God knows I have seen thousands of low budget films, but the flagrant errors made here are unforgivable. The snow falling effects are low grade CGI as well as the monster and the plane in flight. I'm sorry, but the younger generation that tears apart older films should really look at this tripe.

The conclusion of this film has two women survivors who leave the cabin after they have killed the "monster". One is dressed in a tank top, the other has no coat on. Why do I mention this? Because during the course of the film there has been so much snowfall and there are freeaing temps outside. One of them simply says "let's go home"!!! What the hell??

Then another scene has one of the women digging snow out from a window drueing as excape plan earlier in the film and the snow looks like packing peanuts!! If the snow was that deep where did it all go at the end of the movie?

I can forgive a lot of things, but the gaps in this film are far too many and too big to forgive. Watch this for a lesson in how NOT to make a low budget horror film.
