RIP CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER 1929-2021
One of the greats of cinema has died.
Plummer started his TV acting career in 1953 and spent about 12 years appearing in many British TV series and made for TV movies.
His big break came in 1965 when he starred as Capt. Von Trapp in THE SOUND OF MUSIC. After that he also starred in NIGHT OF THE GENERALS as Rommel, THE HIGH COMMISSIONER, THE SPIRAL STAIRCASE, and much more.
I remember him most from his surprise role as THE EMPORER in the 1979 Italian sci-fi film STARCRASH. It's one of my favorite films of all time so perhaps that is the reason. Plummer had a career that lasted 68 years and was a welcome face on the big or small screen.
He passed away on Feb. 5th, 2021 at the age of 91.

FROZEN SCREAM 1975 (TUBI)
This movie is kind of as double edged sword.
What I mean is I love ultra low budget film and can respect those that make them, but the acting in this film is simply the worst I have EVER seen....anywhere...period.
The strange story revolves around two scientists who are attempting to prolong life by freezing people and then making them into mindless zombies. It's never made clear how this is supposed to work, but what the hell.
There is some interesting lame gore effects and the story is bizarre, but damn...the acting is not even above a highschool play. That really crippled this film I believe.
This is not a slap in the face to the people involved in the film, but I do have to say the whole thing could have been much better if the acting had even been a little better. I stumbled on this while surfing TUBI and decided to give it a whirl.
This is not for everyone, of course, but if you are a cinema masochist like I am you'll want to check it out. And what a bizarre ending!! Good Lord, they simply don't make movies like this anymore.

RIP MIKE HENRY 1936-2021
The football star and actor has passed away.
Henry played on the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1958 thru 1961 and then for the Los Angeles Rams from 1962 thru 1964.
It was while playing for the Rams he was discovered and got the job as Tarzan in several films. They were TARZAN AND THE VALLEY OF GOLD, TARZAN AND THE GREAT RIVER and TARZAN AND THE JUNGLE BOY. All of these films were well received and I consider them to be among my favorites.
He made numerous TV appearances after those films and other movies like SOYLENT GREEN, THE LONGEST YARD and MEAN JOHNNY BARROWS. His acting career continued but his best known role was yet to come.
In 1977 he starred in SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT as Junior, the totally inept son of the Sheriff played by Jackie Gleason.
Mike Henry passed away on Jan 8th, 2021 at the age of 84 from Parkinson's Disease.
MANKILLERS 1988 (TUBI)
During a recent TUBI marathon I ran across this and a couple of other films such as "DEATH DIMENSION" and the unforgettable 'FROZEN SCREAM", now this.
This is an ultra low budget attempt from director David Prior to cash in on low budget action films. Does he succeed? You be the judge.
Lynda Aldon stars as a former CIA agent named Rachael McKenna who is hired by the CIA to recruit an army to stop a violent drug dealer. One of her bosses is Joan Hanson played by Gail Fisher.
McKenna recruits 12 women from a federal jail and quickly trains them to go to war. There are endless battle scenes with the women and dealers shooting at each other and the special effects explosions are pathetic.
Sadly the fight scenes aren't much better and everything seems to never quite come together. However, if you like Z budget acton, this is indeed for you.
Edy Williams is always a joy to see and her role as Sgt. Roberts is wonderful. Now, lets get to Gail Fisher. I grew up watching this beautiful woman in Mannix and followed her career for a long time.
Her tragic life makes a much better story than this film and everytime I see her I feel badly because she deserved so MUCH BETTER in real life.
Edd Byrnes is also in this film. He plays a psycho white slaver/rapist who gets his nut sack stabbed!! Damn, I do have to admit that scene is rather painful to see.

RIP HAL HOLBROOK 1925-2021
The man who made the play entitled "Mark Twain" a household word has died.
Not only did Holbrook rise to fame playing Mark Twain on stage, he also becamea very familiar face on TV and in many motion pictures.
After starting his TV acting career in 1954 on the TV series Mr. Citizen he moved on to many things on the small screen including "The Name Of The Game" and "The Bold Ones: The Senator" in which he played Senator Hays Stowe.
His movie career included such films as "Wild In The Streets", "All The President's Men", "Midway", "Rituals", "Capricorn One", "The Fog", "Creepshow""The Firm" and many others.
A great actor that could always be counted on for making a movie or TV show watchable. He passed away on Jan. 23rd, 2021 at the age of 95.

A very well made TV show starring John Bromfield.
I caught seceral episodes on a Westerns DVD and was impressed as I had never seen any of them before. Thge show ran fopr 3 seasons from 1958-1960 and had 68 episodes.
Bromfield played Frank Morgan and here is a run down of the episodes I got a chance to view.

TRIGGER HAPPY 10/31/59... A gun stolen from a green police officer is then used in a murder. Richard Bakalyan and Arthur Space star. James Griffith plays Deputy Tom Ferguson, which he did in many episodes.
HUMAN BOMB 10/12/56... Morgan goes after a man who steals a truckload of dynamite.
SENTENCED TO DEATH 10/25/58... Jack Lord stars as Matt Bonner, a crazed killer who escapes from prison and Morgan must risk life and limb to capture him again.
THE RELATIVES 3/8/57... Morgan tries to stop two brothers from stealing each others cattle.
