FLESHPOT ON 42ND STREET 1973 (SEVERIN) BLU-RAY

A very bizarre film indeed.

This is a look at the lives of people who live on the edge of regular society.

Neil Flanagan stars as Cherry Lane, a cross dressing man who is desparately seeking love in NYC. That is the entire plot actually, and the movie has a really downbeat ending, which is typical of Andy Milligan movies.

What makes this Andy Milligan film so watchable is the early 70's backdrop of Times Square. New York was a completely different world than it is today.

If nothing else, this film is a time capsule of days gone by. The performances in the film are ok and the film moves along at a good pace, but it is not everyones cup of tea.

The quality of the print is very good and again I must say Severin has doen a great job bringing this odd little film to light and in such a glorious package.

I would recommend this for Milligan completists only.

FOREST OF THE WOLF 1970 (SINISTER CINEMA)

Very rare and unusual film.

Jose Luis Lopez Vazquez stars as a peddler named Benito. He grows up and lives in a region where everyone is ignorant and full of fear.

After a childhood trauma he developes epilepsy and thsat makes the people of the village and surrounding area believe that Benito might just be a werewolf.

After hearing this most of his life he slowly comes to believe this and starts killing people whom he takes on trips into the woods. He does a good job of hiding his crimes, but it only lasts so long.

Soon people grow suspicious of Benito and with the blessing of the local church, they begin to hunt him like an animal. He gets caught in a leg trap deep in the forest and the angry mob finally catches him.

It's a pretty downbeat ending, but the film as a whole is very well done and they say based on actual events. Vazquez is excellent as the put upon Benito, and he creates a lot of empathy for the character.

This is a beautiful print with English subtitles and Sinister should be commended for letting people see this film. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

ABILENE TOWN 1946 (TUBI)

Another quality western starring Randolph Scott.

Scott stars as Dan Mitchell, the town marshall of Abilene, Kansas. There is trouble brewing in the town and it has almost reached the boiling point.

The town it seems is divided between homesteaders and cattlemen. Dan tries to keep the peace in town while the Sheriff, a man named 'Bravo' Trimble (Edgar Buchanan) is supposed to keep peace in the entire county. He fails.

Soon the homesteaders find their settlement wiped out by a gang who burns it to the ground. All out war is close at hand.

This is a very well made western and I have yet to see a film with Randolph Scott that I didn't like. Edward L. Marin directed this film and he does an excellent job indeed.

The outstanding cast also includes Ann Dvorak as Rita, a very sexy dabce hall girl, Rhonda Fleming, Lloyd Bridges, Jack Lambert and Hank Petterson.

This is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for any westerns fan. Randolph Scott was one of the greatest actors in history.

RIP ROBERT EATON 1958-2021

Great wrestlers are dropping like flies.

"Beautiful" Bobby Eaton has passed away. Eaton was a part of the tag team known as "The Midnight Express" and he and his tag team partner Dennis Condry and then later Stan Lane went on to wrestling history.

Thru the 80's and 90's they were managed by Jim Cornette and held many, many titles throughout the Southern wrestling area. Eaton was a great athelete who knew how to work.

There will never be another like Bobby Eaton. He died Aug. 4th, 2021 just 10 days shy of his 63rd birthday.

RIP JODY HAMILTON 1938-2021

A professional wrestling legend has died.

Hamilton wrestled in the WCW as "The Assassin". For many years I watched him in the ring as one half of the tag team known as "The Assassins" and they were a part of the Ole Anderson swerve against Dusty Rhodes in 1980.

They were a driving force in Georgis wrestling in the 80's. Hamilton's son is Nick Patrick who was a ref in the business for years. Hamilton passed away at the age os 82 on Aug. 3rd, 2021.

MY BREAKFAST WITH BLASSIE 1983 (RHINO)

This is a real hoot.

Lets face it...Andy Kaufman was a genius. This is his parody of "My Dinner With Andre" and it's simply crazy stuff.

Andy meets former pro wrestler Freddie Blassy for a late breakfast at a local Sambos restaraunt in Los Angeles and that's when the fun starts.

They both have a little trouble deciding what to eat. Then they discuss why you shouldn't eat waffles or pancakes. Freddie rubs the belly of the pregnant waitress for luck then says "now we don't have to tip her as much".

The two discuss their wrestling careers and world travels, but are soon annoyed by a group of women sitting at a table across from them. Some of the comments from Blassie are priceless and Kaufman is no slouch either.

Things get worse when after their meal a man comes over and throws up on their table. I have seen things like this happen before and it was side splitting.

This isn't for everyone, but for those who know Kaufman and Blassie, it is a MUST see. You will find yourself laughing out loud as I did. Man, you just couldn't do this today. Kaufman's humor often made people mad and in todays liberl run psychotic society he would be banned forever by the humorless drones. LONG LIVE SAMBOS!!

CARNAGE 1984 (SEVERIN) BLU-RAY

I really enjoyed this little Milligan gem.

Carol (Leslie Den Dooven) and Johnathan (Michael Chiodo) are a young newlywed couple who move into a beautiful mansion ouside of New York and plan to make it their home for life.

However, after they move in bad things begin to happen and they discover that the house is haunted by the ghosts of the former owners who were also a married couple involved in a murder/suicide three years before.

At first items start moving by themselves and then people are killed after they invite their friends over to the house for a house warming party.

It seems that these ghosts do not want anyone near their home. In the end all is lost, but not in the way one would think. This was a very well made Andy Milligan film in my opinion and it should please any horror fan.

The sudden appearance of both ghosts in various parts of the house are vewry effective and some of the acting isn't half bad at all. Yes, I liked this movie and would recommend it to anyone. The Blu-ray presentation is beautiful and I was very glad to see Severin put this out on Blu-ray and make it available to everyone interested,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO...

NAKED YOUTH 1960 (RHINO)

Another film I haven't seen for almost 30 plus years.

It's also known as "Wild Youth" and moves along pretty good.

Two young men escape from a prison work farm. Steve Rowland stars as Switch, a psychotic man who likes killing people with his knife. His friend and fellow escapee Frankie (Robert Arthur) are met by Frankie's girlfriend Donna (Jan Brooks).

The three escape from the police, but their car breaks down so they hitch a ride from a couple going to Dallas. The couple are Revas (John Goddard) and his wife Madge (Carol Ohmart). They are smuggling heroine across the mexican border.

Switch and Revas are always at each other which makes for an uncomfortable situation. Switch manages to overcome revas and knocks him out as well as taking the distributor cap from the car. They also steal the doll that has heroine hidden in it, but they are not aware of it.

With the police hot pursuit of Revas he and Madge make their way to a small town and encounter the three young people. This ends with the death of both Switch and Revas leaving Madge to pay the price for the crime in prison.

I really liked this film. The rest of the cast includes Robert Hutton, Lloyd Nelson and Clancy Cooper.

POWERPLAY 1999 (TUBI)

Shannon Tweed...nuff said.

Tweed stars as the beautiful blonde named Jacqueline Knight who gets herself involved in the lives of wealthy men and then does away with them.

The movie opens with her killing a man and stealing his valuables. Later we see her and she is working on another man named Ben Alcott (Ken Belsky). However he dies before she can marry him, but she manages to steal $250,000 of his company money.

His daughter Candice (Danielle Ciardi) is left out of the will and she becomes very angry. She and her psychotic boyfriend Steve (James Richer) start off looking for Jacqueline and when they find her she turns out to be a very deadly foe indeed.

Lots of innocent people are killed by Steve during the pursuit and his character makes Jacqueline look like a choir girl!! They enlist the aid of a friend of Steves and things get even worse with double and triple crosses involving the money.

When all is done Steve's frind is killed...Steve kills Jacqueline and Candy pulls off a great triple cross.

Tweed looks GREAT as always and does have some nude scenes, which is why men watch these films anyway. But she does have to compete with Ciardi who also looks very, very hot.

I would recommend this to any Shannon Tweed fan.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO...

NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN 1983 (MGM)

The final time Sean Connery played James Bond.

I found this to be a very lackluster Bond film. This film concerns a SPECTRE agent who has stolen two nuclear warheads, and Bond is called back into duty to prevent the destruction of Washingto DC and the worlds oil supply.

Max Von Sydow is Blofeld who is heading the evil plan being run by a madman named Largo (Klaus Maria Brandaur). Working for Largo is a beautiful female killer named Fatima (Barbara Carrera) who really likes her work of killing people.

Bond gets mixed up with another lovely woman, Domino Patachi (Kim Basinger) who happens to be Largo's lover but is unaware that Largo has had her brother killed after he helped steal the warheads.

It's a race against time as Bond must stop Largo, who turns out to be a brilliant mastermind and seems to always be one step ahead. This has been called a remake of "Thunderball" but trust me, the original was better..much better.

I haven't watched any Bond film made after 1983 and this is why. The film is too long and one can see that PC is slowly slipping into the series which in my opinion has killed it.

I watched it for the first time because I had the chance, but it is not my cup of tea. The rest of the cast includes Bernie Casey, Valerie Leon, Alec McCowan and Pamela Salem.
