TOP 50 RELEASES OF THE YEAR

Well, this is it...the Top 10 for 2010.
10. Humanoids From The Deep (Shout Factory) Doug McClure stars in this great film about mutant salmon monsters. This edition from Shout is totally uncut with scenes that were not included in the earlier release from Concorde.
9. Crack In The World (Olive) At long last this great film finally sees the light of day on any Home Entertainment medium. Dana Andrews stars as a scientist who accidentally brings about global destruction.
8. Shock Festival (Bloody Earth Films) 3 discs of nothing but classic and not so classic trailers and one of the discs has tons of MP3 files on it!! This is an absolute masterwork and a must have for fans.
7. Mega Piranha (The Asylum) A swarm of giant Piranha escapes and heads for Florida. This movie makes me believe that the Monster Movie is alive and well in some parts of movieland. It is really something to see giant piranha stuck in buildings thay have jumped into. Recommended!!
6. Dark Night Of The Scarecrow (VCI)A man is killed by vigilantes and then comes back to seek revenge in the form of a demonic scarecrow...or does he? One of the 10 best made for TV horror movies!!! Thanks to VCI for letting us again see this true classic.
5. The Evil/Twice Dead (Shout Factory) This Roger Corman double feature is highly recommended and I simply love The Evil because it stars one of my favorite people, the lovely Joanna Pettet.
4. Horror High (Code Red) FINALLY the uncut version of this film with all the gore in tact. A nerdy student creates a formula that turns him into a monster and he seeks revenge on those who have given him a bad time in school. Who hasn't been Vernon Potts at sometime in their lives??
3. Green Slime (Warner Archive) Robert Horton, Richard Jaeckle and Luciana Paluzzi fight green, multi-eyed monsters on a space station in this long awaited release of a Japanese/US co-production from 1969. Gorgeous wide screen version that never looked better.
2. Boris Karloff's Thriller (Image) Since Universal sat on it, Image decided to actually do something with it and release all the episodes of this scary as hell TV show. The episodes never looked better and the extras and superb as they include interviews, isolated music tracks, episode promos and much more. All 67 episodes are a rare and wonderful treat in what Stephen King called "The scariest show of it's kind ever to air on TV."
Well now we are up to the Number One movie for the year 2010. Most of you who know me probably knew this was going to be my choice....
1. Starcrash (Shout Factory) Caroline Munro play Stella Star who dresses in skimpy black leather and thigh high leather boots as she attempt to save the universe from the evil Count Zarth Arn. Shout really went all out with this as it is a 2 disc set which includes interviews with the forever sexy Munro, director Luigi Cozzi and much more. One of my favorite films of all time gets a release it heartily deserves..and it is easily my pick for the Number One spot.

MACABRE (WARNER ARCHIVE)

This is director William Castle's first horror film, and it is a doozey!! A doctor tries desperately to find his young daughter that has been buried alive. The plot sometimes is a little convoluted but this is an excellent example of minimalist filmmaking at it's best.
The ending is a good little twist that I won't reveal here. Warner has done a terrific job with this release, and it is a good bet for horror fans. Recommended!!

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin turns 46 today, and Steven Spielberg is 64. Now there are also three women whom I consider to be some of the sexiest women alive who also celebrate birthdays today, and I am giving them their own spaces since this is my blog.

TWO ON A GUILLOTINE (WARNER ARCHIVES)

The luscious, lipsmacking sexy Connie Stevens stars as a young woman who must spend 7 nights in her late fathers haunted mansion in order to inherit $300,000 from his will. Any movie that starts with Stevens tied AOH to a beam of wood and having a sword thrust thru her cannot be all bad.
It has been a very long time (33 years) since I saw this film and it was every bit as good as I remember it. Highly Recommended.

PROJECT KILL/TRAINED TO KILL:USA (ALPHA)

This is a grindhouse double feature of two action films from the 70's. Project Kill stars Leslie Neilsen as a former leader of a top secret organization who is on the run in Manila trying to escape his past. Nancy Kwan stars as his love interest and Gary Lockwood is another agent sent to kill him. William Girdler directed.
The second film is a bizarre on entitled Trained To Kill:USA and stars Steve Sandor as a returning Nam vet who is having trouble adjusting to civilian life. He goes into violence when a group of thugs invade the small town he lives in. Rockne Tarkington also stars.

VAMPIRE CIRCUS (SYNAPSE)

Don't forget that the DVD/Blu Ray combo pack of the excellent Hammer film Vampire Circus is coming out on Dec. 21st. This will be a very good treat for fans of the film.

AMERICAN TOP 40 THE 70'S on SXM

This weekends edition of American Top 40 the 70's on Sirius XM goes back to 12-14-1974 which was a time when the Carpenters pleaded "Please Mr. Postman", Gloria Gaynor "Never Could Say Goodbye", Eric Clapton practiced "Willie & The Hand Jive", B.T. Express said "Do It Until You're Satisfied", and Carl Douglas kicked thru "Kung Fu Fighting".
Listen as Casey Kasem counts them down Saturday at Noon eastern time and the show is repeated Sunday mornings at 9AM eastern and Monday at Midnight eastern.

El Zappato hits the road again Christmas night to kick some major butt. See El Zappato kick the ass of one of the members of a tag team called PYT which stands for Pretty Young Things this coming Dec. 25th.
Ron Michaels is my opponent and he is 6' 3" 210 pounds, but El Zappato is 6'2' 188 pounds of screaming steel and sex appeal.

This weekend broadcast of American Top 40 the 80's goes back to 12-22-1984 when Sheila E. sang of "The Belle Of St. Mark", Sheena Easton wanted to "Strut", Phillip Bailey and Phil Collins found an "Easy Lover", Bruce Springsteen was "Born In The USA" and Daryl Hall & John Oates were "Out Of Touch."
