CORMAN'S WORLD: EXPLOITS OF A HOLLYWOOD REBEL 2010 (ANCHOR BAY)
Hands down the greatest documentary I have ever seen!! This 90 minute film covers the career of Roger Corman from his early days to present days films such as Dinoshark.
Corman is my main inspiration for films. It was George Romero who inspired me to make films, but it was Corman who taught me to make them cheap. If only people made films cheap and good today.
Many, many people are talked to including Allen Arkush, Joe Dante, the late David Carradine, Pam Grier and others and they have nothing but praise for the man and his movies. Jack Nicolson is somewhat emotional as he talks about his career with Corman, and the list of people Roger started in the business reads like a Who's Who of filmmakers and actors.
If you see one film this year, make it this one and learn how films used to be made and what makes them so damn entertaining after all these years.
Corman and his wife Julie still produce movies such as Dinoshark, Sharktopus and others.
Roger is the man and NO ONE can or will ever come close to him in scope of filmmaking. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

RAMBLINGS
I just wanted to t hank everyone who either visits or visits and comments on this site. I really appreciate it.
To answer a few questions, yes I will have more reviews soon, but I am preparing for a cross country move and it is taking a lot of my time.

AMBUSH 1950 (WARNER ARCHIVE)
Excellent western starring Robert Taylor as a man who helps rescue and kidnapped woman from the Apaches.
This was Taylor's second foray into westerns and it would start him on a path to many, many more. Gorgeous Arlene Dahl is his love interest and the rest of the supporting cast helps rise this above the usual western fare.
John Hodiak, Jean Hagen, Leon Ames and John McIntire co-star.
Recommended for western fans and Taylor fans as well.

THE LAST DINOSAUR 1977 (WARNER ARCHIVE)
When I first saw this in 1977 I was enthralled by this made for TV sci-fi film, and then seeing it 35 years later I am still enthralled. This is the complete theatrical edit which ran in theaters in Japan, where the film was made.
Richard Boone stars as a mega millionaire who finances a trip to the polar regions in search of a reported Tyranosaurus Rex in a lost world. He and his small party arrive there only to be trapped and having to fight for their lives against many monsters and savage cave people.
Lovely Joan Van Ark is a reporter along for the ride and Tetsu Nakamura (The Manster) is a professor who is killed way too early.
This is a good film with no CGI, just man in monster suits which is the way it should be. Highly Recommended!!

TARZAN AND THE SLAVE GIRL 1950 (WARNER ARCHIVE)
Lex Barker is Tarzan in this fun film about young women from various tribes being kidnapped and used as slaves by a secret evil empire hidden deep in the jungle.
The evil empire is slowly dying from a rare disease and Tarzan helps the empire and saves the women.
Vanessa Brown is Jane and Robert Alda and Arthur Sheilds are doctors who have a serum for the disease. Denise Darcel is a feisty captive and Hurd Hatfield is the leader of the evil empire of Lionians.
Recommended for Saturday afternoon fun.

NO BLADE OF GRASS 1970 (WARNER ARCHIVE)
Grim and bold film directed by Cornel Wilde about a plague that wipes out all the grain and grass and the world is slowly starving to death as a small band of people fight for survival in a now very brutal and ugly world.
Nigel Davenport stars as a man who takes his wife (Jean Wallace),daughter and a few others on a trek to his brothers home in the rural part of England to escape the plague and the violence.
There are a lot of very disturbing images in this film, and that is what makes it pack such a wallop. Rarely seen since it's initial run in 1970. Audiences were not ready for this ahead of it's time film, but now thanks to Warner Archive you can see it in it's uncut glory. I Highly recommend this for any fan of sci-fi and action.

BLACK ZOO 1963 (WARNER ARCHIVE)
Michael Gough stars in this classic film from Herman Cohen. This is the third her made with Cohen and the others are Horrors Of The Black Museum and Konga.
Here he is running a zoo and he uses the tigers, lions and a gorilla to kill those he percives to be enemies. Rod lauren is his mute son, Jeanne Cooper is his long suffering wife and Virginia Grey is a women he has killed by his gorilla.
Wild and fun thriller which is very brutal is spots, and a good bet for horror fans. Warner gives us this film in the proper 2.35 to 1 aspect ratio and the remastered picture is simply beautiful!
A must for your collection.
