A small town in Southern Italy is shocked by the death of three children in various violent ways.
The police are frantic to find the killer and they are helped by a reporter named Martelli (Tomas Milian). There are a lot of twists and turns as one would expect in a movie such as this.
The small town is very superstitious and several of the men kill a woman they believe to be a witch and they assume her guilty. What is shocking about this is that she actually confesses and the police prove she wasn't anywhere near the killings, but the townspeople still kill her in a very gruesome way.
When it's discovered who the real killer is it might surprise you. This movie is very well made and it is probably well known for the incident involving Fulci being arrested on child endangerment charges over the filming of the opening sequence involving a cild actor and a naked and gorgeous Barbara Bouchet. It all came out in the wash however, but damn do people overreact. They still do to this day!!
The rest of the cast includes Florinda Bolkin, Trene Papas, and Marc Porel. This is a true classic with a few very well done set pieces and it's ALWAYS a pl;easure to lay eyes on Bouchet.
