Released in 1956, this is an excellent example of the giant monster movies coming out of Japan. A small village is terrorized by giant worm-like creatures and then the world becomes the target for two giant Pterodactyls as they fly over the world creating havoc.
The wind from them just flying over is of typhoon force and they prove to be just about indestructible until they are done in by the Japanese military and an erupting volcano. The special effects by Eiji Tsuburaya are the best in the business, and set the standard for all monster movies to come out of the land of the rising sun.
Rodan would return in other Japanese films as "Destroy All Monsters" and "Ghidorah", but this film stands out as a classic that introduced the world to another Japanese monster after Godzilla. Highly Recommended for fans of Japanese giant monsters.
The disc has the original Japanese version and the US version as well.
