31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN DAY 8: HELL IN NORMANDY 1968 (ALPHA)

Nope, you're right it's not a horror film.

This is a pretty good little film about a parachute unit sent in prior to D-Day to destroy a German flame throwing installation.

Guy Madison stars as Capt. Jack Murphy, leader of the small band of brave men. The group finds themselves trapped behind enemy lines when a scheduled drop is cancelled right after they dive out of the plane.

Murphy and his men are helped by a beautiful young woman named Denise (Erika Blanc) who lets them hide on her father's farm. She falls for a young blonde man, Lt. Strobel (Peter Lee Lawrence) who has been working undercover as a German officer.

The climax when the US forces attempt to destroy the installation on Omaha Beach is very well done and director Alfonso Brescia handles it very well. The print of the film is ok, but some of the night scenes are pretty dark and it's hard to see what is happening. Thankfully these scenes are brief and far between.

I included this film because of actress Erika Blanc, of course. It has nothing to do with Halloween, but because it has the gorgeous Erika in it, and she has done many of my favorite European horror films, I included it.

Sadly star Peter Lee Lawrence passed away at the age of 30 in 1974 from cancer. He was married to Cristina Galbo.

Not too bad of an action film and if you like these kinds of films you might want to check it out. I will let you know I have one more WW2 film to be reviewed here during the 31 Days of Halloween, but hey, it has Klaus Kinski ans gorgeous Margaret Lee in it.
