Dale wrote the 1961 hit "Misirlou" which became a sensation and rocketed Dale to stardom.
His fifth single in 1961 entitled "Let's Go Trippin" is credited as being the first surf rock instrumental and also started the 1960's craze of surf music.
Dick Dale and The Del Tones appeared in several motion pictures and Dale was always one of my favorites. His kind of music isn't made today. He had legions of fans around the world and his legacy will live forever.
He died on March 16th at the age of 81.
