THUNDERBALL 1965 (MGM)
Sean Connery again returns as suave agent 007.
Bond fight SPECTRE who has a criminal who has stolen 2 atomic bombs and blackmails England and the US. This movie is nothing but fun from beginning to end and never lets up.
Adolfo Celi is Largo, the criminal mastermind and sexy Claudine Auger as his unwilling companion. This also features gorgeous Martine Beswick as Paula, the woman who is Bonds contact in Nassau and then you have jaw dropping hottie Luciana Paluzzi as a female working for SPECTRE that is out to kill Bond at any cost.
Rik Van Nutter is Felix Leiter the CIA contact. The scenery is spectacular and I cannot think of a single reason one would not want to watch this movie unless you are not a Bond fan. Great action that is Highly Recommended!!
SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE SECRET WEAPON 1943 (TREELINE)
Once again Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce helm the roles of Holmes and Watson respectively.
In this outing Holmes and Watson must try and protect a scientist who has developed a weapon that the allies want to keep out of Nazi hands.
Lionel Atwill is Prof. Moriarty, the master criminal who is working with the Nazi's to obtain the weapon. This is a fun film if you can handle Holmes being updated to the 1940's and WW2.
Mary Gordon is again Mrs. Hudson and Dennis Hoey is Insp. Lastrade. Good fun for mystery and adventure fans.

SOUND OF HORROR 1964 (ALPHA)
Another off the wall but great little horror film.
A small group of isolated people looking for a treasure accidentally unearth an egg which hates an invisible, shrieking dinosaur that has been buried for thousands of years.
When I first saw this I was impressed and I still am. The idea of an invisible dinosaur is pretty cool to me and you do see it in glimpses thru the film and at the end briefly. The cast includes the gorgeous Soledad Miranda and Ingrid Pitt, and that means it is MUST viewing for people like me.
This was Ingrid's debut and she does very well. The screaming of the dinosaur is something I will never forget. Recommended!!
QUATERMASS XPERIMENT 1955 (MGM)
One of the best films ever made in my opinion.
Hammer films burst onto the horror and sci-fi scene in 1955 with the release of this excellent film about an alien life form that returns to earth via the body of an astronaut.
Brian Donlevy plays Prof. Bernard Quatermass, a man driven by science and knowledge who sends three men into space and has them return, but with much more trouble than he ever anticipated.
Only one astronaut returns and Quatermass and the police at Scotland Yard attempt to find out why. In the meantime the returned astronaut, played very very well by Richard Wordsworth begins to mutate into a multi-tentacled monster that must suck the life force from human and animals in order to live.
This film is one of the best ever with a great tight script, a super cast which also includes Jack Warner as Inspector Lomax, Sam Kydd, Margia Dean and Lionel Jefferies. The bantering back and forth between Lomax and Quatermass is well done and very real, much like in the 1951 production of "The Thing".
MGM has issued this in an MOD disc which is widescreen and almost perfect in every way. It looks cleaner than I have ever seen it and nobody plays Quatermass like Donlevy. He returned in the second film entitled "Quatermass 2" also known as "Enemy From Space". I give this film the highest Recommendation.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO....
Jeff Bridges is 63, Tony Todd is 58, Max Baer, Jr. is 75, and Jimmy Hunt is 73.

DRACULA'S GREAT LOVE 1972 (SHOUT FACTORY)
Once again Elvira hosts this episode of her show and she has a Paul Naschy movie this time.
Naschy stars as Dracula who is looking for a virgin who will love him for who he is and it will free him from his curse. It's an interesting twist to the vampire movie and it makes a more than watchable effort.
As is always the case there are no bad looking women in this film amongst the leads which include Mirta Miller and Rosanna Yanni. The ending is something you don't see everyday in a vampire movie, actually I have never seen it in any movie but this one.
This is the totally uncut version with nudity in tact as are all the Shout Factory editions of Elvira Mistress Of The Dark shows. Recommended!!

IT! 1966 (WARNERS)
Great little shocker.
Roddy McDowell stars in this great little shocker as Arthur Pimm, a young man working in a museum that obtains a statue that turns out to be the original Golem.
Pimm keeps the mummified body of his mother at his house and steals jewels for her. He also has a fixation for a young woman named Ellen Grove, played by sexy Jill Haworth. He brings that Golem to life and it kills many people before the army decides to use a small nuclear device to kill the monster!!
McDowell dies but the Golem still lives on after the A bomb. Now this is a purely pulp story and not to be taken seriously at all. A well made film that will hold your attention and will not bore you. Recommended!!
BEAST OF YUCCA FLATS 1961 (MILL CREEK)
Oh sweet Jesus what a movie this is.
Tor Johnson plays a Russian scientist. Yes you heard me right...A RUSSIAN SCIENTIST who is being chased by two bumbling hitmen who stumbles onto Yucca Flats bombing range and is caught in a nuclear blast. He turns into a monster that...well...that chases a couple of children and carries a big stick.
The dialogue is all off camera and the acting is, well not good.....would you believe ok?.....would you believe medicore?.....sigh...ok it's not that good at all. What really gets me is that the policemen hunting the killer beast don;t even know who they are hunting, but they shoot at anyone who is within their rifle scopes.
Watching Tor chase two children around will bring laughter to you as quickly as it did for me. What a godawful movie, but I do like it because it is so bad it is good. The opening scene is an excuse to show brief female nudity but makes no sense for the rest of the film.
See it...you won't believe it.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO....
Lucy Liu is 44, Britney Spears is 31, Cathy Lee Crosby is 68, and Arch Hall, Jr. is 69.

THE BOOGENS 1981 (OLIVE)
Finally this film has been made available on DVD.
Four young people rent a cabin in a small Colorado town and soon find that tentacled monsters from a long abandoned mine have been awakened and are hungry.
These little monsters are quite mean and hungry as they devour certain cast members. Gorgeous Rebecca Balding and Anne Marie Martin are the two young women and the men are played by Fred McCarren and Jeff Harlan.
Also on hand are Jon Lormer and Med Florey. This is how to make a low budget film that works. Director James Conway knows how to build up suspense and he does not show us the monsters until very late in the film. Wow, if only the knuckleheads who make movies today could make films like this.
Olive has put out a beautiful widescreen presentation of this film and any horror fan would be amiss not to add this to their collection.
A STUDY IN SCARLETT 1933 (TREELINE)
Reginald Owen plays Sherlock Holmes in this tight little thriller.
A secret society divides up the belongings of those who have passed away amongst themselves, and soon members start dropping like flies.
Owen does a good job as Holmes and Warburton Gamble is a mostly ignored Watson. Anna Mae Wong is a woman who hires Holmes to find out who is killing members of the group.
Not a bad film and mystery fans will find it enjoyable.
