FOOD OF THE GODS (MGM)
From the now defunct Midnight Movie line from MGM, this is a classic Bert I. Gordon film about a mysterious substance that makes animals grow to gigantic proportions. Marjoe Gortner, Ida Lupino, Ralph Meeker, Pamela Franklin, Bonnie Bedelia and others are the stars and are trapped on a small island in British Columbia fighting for their lives against everything from giant wasps and chickens to giant rats. The effects are a little on the cheap side and don't always work well, but who cares? This is a film strictly for entertainment and I never fail to be entertained by it.
