One of the greatest film noir's ever made!!! Director Stanley Kubrick tells a gripping story in a new style of filmmaking one has to see to appreciate. Sterling Hayden stars as a man recently released from prison who sets up the perfect robbery of a race track take.
The cast is absolutely perfect and includes lovely Colleen Gray, Marie Windsor, Elisha Cook, jr., Jay C. Flippen, Vince Edwards, Ted DeCorsia, Joe Sawyer and the great Timothy Carey.
Carey is perfect as a hired assassin who is given the job of shooting a horse. The ending is a very gritty film noir type whose final line by Hayden is picture perfect.
If you haven't seen this movie, I highly recommend you do as you will never forget it.
