One of the most underrated yet most entertaining sci-fi films of the 60's. A state trooper stops traffic on a rural mountain highway after reports of an impending atomic attack.
In a very questionable plan he intends to try and save the people he stops inside a semi truck trailor. The tensiion slowly builds between himself and the others and there is an escaped killer in the area as well.
Director Fred Gadette does an excellent job and this seems to be his only foray into feature films. The cast is very good and the only ones that seem to have had much work were the trooper played by Seamon Glass and Ron Starr who plays the escaped killer named Delany. As a matter of fact the same year he made this Starr worked with Joel McCrea and Randolph Scott in the epic western Ride The High Country for director Sam Peckinpah.
One of the best end of the world movies ever with a very shocking and downbeat ending.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
