This is the second feature film from Charles Band, and it's a wild one indeed. A beautiful young woman named Kim Denne (Sue Lyon) buys a mysterious object at a flea market that turns out to be way more than anyone knows.
Her very bitter husband Marc (Jose Ferrer) hates her and attempts to kill her with the family dog!! This causes her to have an auto accident in which she is nearly killed, but she has no memory of who she is or what happened. While in a coma she clutches the item she bought at the market and won't let go.
Her doctor, played by John Ericson is trying to find out who she is and what happened and while this is going on a driverless black sports car is killing people and slowly heading towards the small town where Kim lives.
This is a mix of genres including action films and horror. Maybe "Smokey And The Bandit" meets "The Exorcist" or something like that. We see a few shots of Kim possessed to the point where her eyes are red and she is contorting her body in weird ways.
This is one weird movie, but for me it works very well. Everyone plays this one straight and Jose Ferrer is very evil in this movie. One thing I did learn from this movie is that EVERY car accident will end with an explosion...lol.
The rest of the great cast includes Leslie Parrish (looking sexy as ever), John Carradine, Paul Dubov, Reggie Nalder, Jerome Guardino, and Richard Band.
This one gets a "HIGHLY RECOMMENDED" from me.
