It took almost 48 years to get this movie to the screen, but it finally arrived and it is a fantastics adventure tale. I won't go into the very troubled history of the movie as it would take pages, but this movie, directed by the late David Allen is top notch.
The film opens with a yeti attacking and killing several Sherpas in a small mountain village. The locals cannot figure out why the usually quiet beasts are suddenly attacking and killing people.
A scientist named Clair Collier (Juliet Mills) heads an investigation into what is happening. She and a few others go on an expidition to find answers. They find way more than they could ever imagine.
They discover that an ancient alien race is living in a very bizarre underground world and are controlling the yeti by using advanced brain operations on them.
This movie is, to me anyway, the last hurrah for wonderful stop motion animation effects. Nowadays it's all cruddy CGI that looks like a 2 year old did it, while this movie is an art of stop motion effects. David Allen would have it no other way as he was one of the worlds leading artists in this catagory.
I had a heck of a time with this movie and I hope you will too. It's one of the best I have seen in a long time. It was well worth the almost 50 year wait.
The rest of the cast includes Richard Joseph Paul, Leon Russom, Walker Brandt, Robert Cornthwaite and Tai Thai.
