On a September night in 1974, Friday the 13th to be exact, a monster kid had a very memorable experience.

It was on this dark night at 8pm Pacific time I was introduced to a new television show that debuted that night entitled "Kolchak The Night Stalker".

I had waited weeks to see it finally air on TV and I hurried home from school, did my homework and had dinner. Then my mom and I sat and watched as the screen flickered and we were introduced to Kolchak as he hunted Jack The Ripper who was alive and well in Chicago.

I had seen both "The Night Stalker" and "The Night Strangler" movies and was jacked for the series. Needless to say I was not disappointed. I was so obsessed I even recorded the show on my tape recorder!!

It was a night I'll never forget and then later that same night on the CBS Late Movie was "Night Of The Lepus" and that as everyone here knows is a personal favorite for various reasons.

Back in the day I had to watch these movies and shows when they aired as there was no recording available then. It was an experience that many I know will never get to experience, but the excitement of seeing this kind of thing has never left me, and I get the same feelings when new things come out on Blu-ray.

Yes 42 years ago it was quite a night indeed and it's hard for me to believe it was that long ago.
