Hooper burst onto the national scene in 1974 with the above mentioned film. It made tons of money as really stuck in the national conscience of the pop culture community. It changed the horror film industry in many ways.
Hooper went on to direct "Eaten Alive", "Salem's Lot", "The Funhouse", "Poltergeist", and my personal favorite "Lifeforce" as well as many others. He also handled the directing chores on the Billy Idol music video "Dancing With Myself".
There is no doubt the Hooper was and will always be a pioneer in the history of horror. He died on August 26th, 2017 at the age of 74.
