This is a very effective movie although some fans of horror felt let down. Annabelle is a doll that is possessed by the spirit of a psychotic female who, along with another psycho try and kill a young couple in their modest home.
The doll wants to possess the soul of their newborn child and it will stop at nothing to obtain it's goal. That is the plot in a nutshell.
The look they gave the doll is one that I think works for the film, but if you know what the real life Annabelle looks like then you might feel like I do. A Raggedy Ann doll would have been more effective.
But a good movie none the less this is one that horror fans should see. It takes place in the early 70's, which is refreshing. The ending has the woman purchasing it for her daughter which takes us to where "The Conjuring" started. See this film and decide for yourself, but I know I liked it.
