This is the fourth of five film starring Bill Elliot as Lt. Andy Doyle of the LA County Sheriffs Office.
In this fast moving sags, a recently released convict named Steve Nordstrom (Jimmy Lydon) is attacked by a thug he used to know and is savagely beaten and loses his memory.
He is hired for several odd jobs while the police, led by Doyle seek his whereabouts. Steve's beautiful girlfriend Harriet (Claudia Barrett) also helps.
Steve is taken in by a wealthy man whose wife Claire (Tina Carver) is planning on killing him so she can be with her lover Bob Bradfield (Ross Elliot).
They use Steve as a patsy for the killing, and then things get even more twisted.
This is what I consider to be almost a perfect film noir from it's era. The direction by Paul Landres is well handled, the cast is made up of actors who know their jobs well, and the supporting cast is just as good.
As a matter of fact, the supporting cast includes Dabbs Greer, Timothy Carey, Don Haggerty, Meg Randall, John Belifer and John Close.
This is a highly recommended crime film from the late 1950's.
