DATE WITH THE FALCON 1942 (WARNER ARCHIVE)

This is the very first entry in the series of 16 movies made from 1942 thru 1949.

A scientist discovers how to make synthetic diamonds and now a criminal gang wants the formula. The Falcon (George Sanders) is following the gang.

A string of murders and double cross ensue and while that would make for some great adventure in the furture of the series, they mix too much comedy in with the action and it hampers the story in my opinion.

I also noticed that in this and the follow-up "The Falcon Takes Over" that there were a LOT of uncredited actors and actresses. Why? I have no idea.

While this film is alright, I didn't enjoy it as much as I would later entries, but hey, you have to start somewhere. The rest of the cast includes Lynn Bari, James Gleason, Allen Jenkins, Mona Maris, Hans Conried, Anthony Blair and Sam Bagley.

With all of it's flaws it's still a good place to start with the series...after all it's the first one. It got much better.
