PRISONER OF JAPAN 1942 (ALPHA)

PRC quickie set during World War 2.

Alan Baxter stars as an American planter named David Bowman. He is on a small tropical island in the pacific and is fighting against a Japanese agent named Matsuru (Ernst Deutsch).

David discovers, thru a young woman who owns a night club on the island that Matsutu has a very powerful short wave radio and is planning an attack on the pacific fleet.

This young woman is Toni Chase (Gertrude Michael), and both she and David vow to bring the Japanese down.

This is a typical film for the era, and of course being a PRC release, it's very low budget, but it is a good watch. I enoyed watching it. Mind you...it's nothing new, but it's well done.

I read somewhere that Edgar Ulmer co-directed, but who knows. If you're looking for a quickie movie to kill an hour, this is a good start.

The rest of the cast includes Corinna Mura, Dave O' Brien, Beal Wong and Ray Bennett.
