OPERATION AMSTERDAM 1959 (MGM)

Interesting tale set in the early days of World War 2.

Peter Finch stars as Jan Smit, He and a few other men are sent to Holland in order to clean out all of the industrial diamonds Amsterdam is known for.

They do this in order to keep the Germans from taking them when they overrun the city, which they are close to doing. Jan and his partners enlist the aid of a lovely woman named Anna (Eva Bartok) who is waiting for the news about her Jewish husband.

The struggle to get these diamonds out of Holland is much harder than anyone thought, and this is a very good plot premise, and the cast and director handle it very well.

It's also interesting to watch these people playing a hide and seek game with the Dutch army, and they even suspect one of their own to be a spy, which is a great plot touch.

This is a very different type of WW2 movie, and it has a great pace. The rest of the cast in this thriller includes Alexander Knox, Tony Britton, Malcolm Keen, Alfred Berke, George Pravda and John Bailey.

If you get a chance to see this, then I suggest you do so if it's your kind of movie. It does not disappoint and everything falls nicely together.
