RAMBLINGS..

More snow, maybe another 10 inches or more is expected to fall and I guess that means after work it will be time to watch and review a lot of movies again.
Thanks to the Saints winning their game against the Falcons, El Zappato does not have to take the chair shots he promised people if the Saints lost.
Lots of cool stuff coming to DVD soon and I will update that more later. If you liked the TV show "V" which was on NBC, I just wanted to let you know that the new season starts on Jan. 4th. Pretty cool stuff for network television.

AMERICAN TOP 40 THE 70'S on SXM

This weekends upcoming show on Sirius XM will be from 12-29-1973 and will be the Top 40 of 1973. This is a rarely played episode and should be a treat for all Casey Kasem American Top 40 fans.

AMERICAN TOP 40 THE 70'S

This upcoming weekends edition of AT 40 the 70's takes us back to 1-7-1978 when Lynyrd Skynyrd asked "What's Your Name?", The Bee Gees were "Stayin' Alive", Randy Newman asked about "Short People", Queen stated "We Are The Champions" and LTD was "Back In Love Again." It promises to be a great program as Casey Kasem counts them down on great stations like WBBG in Youngstown, Ohio, CKDK in Woodstock, Ontario Canada, KPRC in Houston, Texas and KLCM in Lewistown, Montana.

AMERICAN TOP 40 THE 80'S

This upcoming weekend's edition of AT 40 the 80's will feature the second half of the top 100 for 1985. Listen as casey counts them down on such great radio stations like KODM in Midland, Texas,
WRIP in Windham, New York, KKLI in Widefield, Colorado and WTKU in Lynwood, New Jersey.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

Tomorrow night the Saints play the Atlanta Falcons and it is very important that they win so they can have a playoff shot. I haven't been this excited for a football game since last years Super Bowl when my Saints made my 40 years of fandom pay off by winning.
Go Saints. I will be tuned in tomorrow night and turn my cell phone off..lol.
The Falcons haven't lost a game at home this year and are 2 games ahead of the Saints in the NFL South.
If the saints do not win El Zappato will offer anyone here the chance to give him 2 head shots with a steel chair.

CRAZY MAMA/LADY IN RED (SHOUT FACTORY)

Continuing their series of great Roger Corman films Shout Factory brings us two more interesting gems. Crazy Mama stars Cloris Leachman as a middle aged woman whose business is closed due to foreclosure and so she, her mother and daughter and the daughters boyfriend decide to head back to Arkansas. The trip turns into a crime spree.
Luscious Linda Purl is the young daughter and Ann Southern is the mother and Donny Most is the boyfriend. This is a sometimes comical, sometimes serious movie and they are blended well together with great 50's music and direction by Jonathan Demme.
Lady in Red stars beautiful Pamela Sue Martin as the woman who the FBI used to kill john Dillinger at the Biograph theater. Robert Conrad stars as Dillinger and Christopher Lloyd is a very sadistic man named "Frognose." Both of these films are presented in a Grindhouse style with previews and intermission thrown in.
Highly Recommended.

ATTACK OF THE BEAST CREATURES (DVD-R)

It's a damn shame this gem hasn't been given a proper release on DVD. In 1920 a cruise ship sinks and the survivors board a lifeboat and find themselves on a small island. Several references in the film leads the viewer to believe that something is very, very wrong such as the temperature is more like the tropics, not the Atlantic.
Our survivors soon find that the island has a few nasty things such as acid lakes and some of the most vicious inhabitants they will ever come across.
These inhabitants are little monsters that will remind you of the Zuni Fetish Doll from the TV film Trilogy of Terror. The attacks on the survivors is done very well and the actors actually believe that they are real, which is no easy task, I assure you.
You simply have to see this movie to believe it!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO....

Kathleen Crowley is 79 today.

GOLDEN GODDESS OF RIO BENI (SINISTER CINEMA)

German made film about two explorers searching for a missing man and the stumble upon a lost tribe and a beautiful white woman who is there leader. Gillian Hills is the jungle woman in this well made black and white adventure film.
Rare and recommended!!

LIGHTS OUT VOL. 8 (ALPHA)

Four more episodes of TV terror with episodes entitled Just What Happened about mysterious magic, The Angry Birds which is exactly what the titles says it is, Last Will Of Dr. Rant with leslie Neilsen as a young man frightened by a ghostly being and The Martian Eyes about a drunk who tells a man that three eyed martians are invading earth.

UNINVITED (CHEEZY FLICKS)

The great Greydon Clark directed this tale about a mutant cat that gets aboard a yacht on a cruise in the Caribbean!! The monster is pretty cool and some of the passengers include George Kennedy, Alex Cord, Shari Shattuck and Rob Estes.
The movie ranks right up there with all of Clark's work, which is always very unique. Highly Recommended if you can find it. I found mine on the shelf at my local Hastings Store.

JIGSAW (ALPHA)

Franchot Tone stars in this well made film noir about a young man investigating a right wing hate group. This was a pet project of Tone's and he managed to get Marlene Dietrich, Everett Sloane, John Garfield, Henry Fonda and Burgess Merideth to appear in this film.
Marc Lawrence is the top baddie in the film and it fun to watch. Check it out if you get a chance.

IMPULSE (MGM)

Meg Tilly and Tim Matheson star as a young couple who go to a small california town to visit and find that all of the inhabitants are acting out their every desire and darkest primal urges.
This will undoubtedly remind one of the Crazies by George Romero, and it is very similar.
The movie slowly builds to a somewhat shocking climax. I recommend this for fans of horror and mystery.
Very well done.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO....

Dick Miller turns 82 today, Barbara Mandrell is 62 today and Jimmy Buffett is 64.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO....

Edwige Fenech turned 62 today, producer David Friedman turns 87,and professional wrestler Christopher Daniels is 39.

PROM NIGHT (ECHO BRIDGE)

The original 1980 slasher starring Jamie Lee Curtis as one of several teens stalked by a hooded axr carrying killer.
Leslie Neilsen plays Jamie's father. This is an ok film, but never really develops the potential it could have had. It is hard to believe they remade this film because it really could have been so much more.
It's ok to waste 89 minutes, but not the best way.

LAKE PLACID 3 (SONY)

A swarm of huge crocodiles terrorizes a small town in Maine in this Sci-Fi channel produced film. Colin Ferguson stars as a biologist who fights the giant monsters with the help of local sheriff played by Michael Ironside.
Blood and gore galore and some pretty cool giant crocs make this a winner for monster movie fans.

COMING ATTRACTIONS

This coming Jan 18th Code Red will release the first official version of The Black Klansman, which is an excellent Ted V. Mikles movie about a light skinned black man joining the Klan to get revenge on the bigots who killed his daughter when they bombed a church.
This is a new 16X9 telecine from an original camera negative.
On Jan. 25th Film Chest on the Kultra label will release Al Adamson's long thought lost gem Carnival Magic which debuted on TCM last October. I missed this so it will be a treat. This is a film about a talking chimp and his owner who just happens to have supernatural skills as they battle a jealous rival and an evil doctor.
Two great films to watch for.

SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS

It's that time of the year to watch this timeless classic about Santa being kidnapped by Martians and taken to Mars to make their children happy.
Hooray for Santee-Claus is the theme song. You gotta love it!!!!

RAMBLINGS..

Well I don't like to get too political on here, but it seems the Dumbocrats led by Barak Osama, oops I meant Obama, and the FCC have approved new rules on 12-21-2010 that, for the first time would give the federal government authority to regulate internet traffic.
This is a move spearheaded by Al Sharpton, and this is why I detest liberals and liberalism, or as it is called today "progressive". We all know that our Dictator, oops I mean President hasn't made one good decision since he came into office and I know this isn't a good one either. The Dumbocrats will back this until they have to start censoring the material they like, then they will again sing a different tune.
I do not allow my friends to be liberal. I will be keeping my eyes on this, and you should to.

MEGA SHARK VS. CROCOSAURUS (THE ASYLUM)

If you like monster movies you'll love this battle between a 1500 crocodile and a shark about the same size. Jaleel White is a soldier who is doing some research on sharks that is called into the fight between the monsters and the Army.
The special effect are about par for this kind of movie, but you'll love this as the giant monsters attack Miami, the Panama Canal, Hawaii and the baby crocs which are also giants attack the Santa Monica Pier!!
Christopher Olen Ray, the son of Fred directed this film and he does an excellent job. This film is far better than any film Fred has made in the last 10 years.
A highly recommended piece of monster fun.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO....

Ed Nelson turns 82 today.

AMERICAN TOP 40 THE 80'S

This weekend upcoming edition of AT 40 the 80's is the first half of a two part show featuring the Top 100 hits of 1985. This will be a great countdown with the second half being New Years Weekend. This weeks first half features such great tunes as "Sugar Wall" by Sheena Easton, "Born In The USA" by Bruce Springsteen, "Would I Lie To You" by Eurythimics, "Axel F" by Harold Faltermeyer and much more. Check it out on great radio stations like WQSR in Baltimore Maryland, WTDR in Talladega, Alabama, KODM in Midland, Texas and KJQN in Salt Lake City, Utah.

LAKE PLACID 2 ( 20TH CENTURY FOX)

This sequel came 8 years after the original and it isn't really a bad film. John Schneider stars as the sheriff of a small Maine town whose woods have become home to 4 giant mutant crocodiles. The effects are not as good as the first film, but they are adequate for a film like this.
If you like cheap monster movies, then you'll like this film. I know I did.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO....

Jenny Agutter is 58 today, John Hillerman is 78, Lucy Pinder is 27, Angel Tompkins turns 67, and Audrey Totter is 92.
Special mention to another birthday of a very beautiful lady who died much too young, and that is Claudia Jennings who would be 61. All of the exploitation fans still love her work to this day and she will always be a special part of us.

LAKE PLACID (20TH CENTURY FOX)

A gigantic crocodile has made a home in the quiet area of a lake in Maine. Bill Pullman is the Fish & Game man sent to investigate along with Bridget Fonda. Betty White has a funny role as a woman who actually takes care of this huge monster.
This isn't a bad monster movie and it has spawned two sequels, both of which I will get to here sometime in the very near future.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

Well shoot, the saints dropped one to the Baltimore Ravens today! Well, you cannot win them all!!

RAMBLINGS..

Wow. MTV continues their long line of losers with naming Kanye West "man of the year." Well the first word in that phrase is questionable, but I simply cannot figure out why constantly angry people who hide behind name calling are always rewarded.
Kanye sucks in my opinion and he always will. Nothing but an untalented person who cries and whines about everything even though he has more than most people will EVER have.
Shut the hell up Kanye!!!

JONAH HEX (WARNER)

Josh Brolin stars as the DC comics hero who is trying to stop a madman from destroying America on it's 100th birthday. Gorgeous Megan Fox is Lilah, the only person Jonah actually seems to trust. Lots of good action and supernatural elements in this well made film. For a modern day film it has a short running time of 82 minutes and that includes the 7 minutes for credits at the end!!
Good, short and to the point.

HYPNOTIC EYE (WARNER ARCHIVE)

Another film starring the always sexy Allison Hayes as a woman who is the assistant of a hypnotist named Desmond whose assistants on stage always seem to go home and disfigure themselves via electric fan, acid and fire, just to name a few.
This is a truly bizarre and well made horror film also starring Jacques Bergerac as Desmond. Lovely Merry Anders is an intended victim. They simply don't make good movies like this anymore. Highly recommended!!

THE DISEMBODIED (WARNER ARCHIVE)

Super sexy Allison Hayes stars as Tonda, the wife of a doctor who is living in the jungle. She is also the local Voodoo Queen and casts a spell on a small party of three men who come to her husband for some medical aid.
Nobody dances a voodoo dance like Allison, and this alone is worth the price of admission. Paul Burke co-stars but sexy Hayes easily steals the show. A great remastered film never before available finally comes to DVD.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO....

Marlene Clark turns 61 today, Monica Leigh is 29, Nancy Kyes (AKa Nancy Loomis) is 61, Kristy Swanson is 41, Jennifer Beals is 47, and Alyssa Milano is 38.
