DEAD SPACE 1991 (SHOUT FACTORY)

Another gem from Roger Corman!!

Corman produced this light "remake" of Forbidden World starring Marc Singer as a Commander who receives a distress signal from a distant planet that is also a research facility.

It seems that an experiment has gotten loose and is killing members of the scientific team. The monster is pretty cool looking and so is Laura Tate as a young doctor working at the facility.

This is a fairly simple film that does succeed in entertaining the audience for 80 minutes. Recommended!!

SUDDEN IMPACT 1983 (WARNERS)

The fourth, and one of the best of the Dirty Harry series.

A rape victim is killing those who assaulted her. Sondra Locke plays the role perfectly, and I forgot how beautiful she really was in this film until I saw it again recently.

Callahan is assigned to the case as she is always one step ahead of him thanks to a useless sheriff in the small California which Harry is in to investigate. Pat Hingle plays the sheriff.

Bradford Dillman and Paul Drake round out the cast. The title song is sung by Roberta Flack and I admit I like it a lot. This is a well rounded thriller with Callahan looking tired in some scenes and his character and the rape victim do just what I think they should do at the end of this film. No spoilers here, sorry.

BRAIN THAT WOULDN'T DIE 1959 (MILL CREEK)

An all time classic bad movie.

A mad doctor keeps the decapitates head of his girlfriend alive while seeking a new body for her. Jason Evers is the doctor who eyes a lot of sexy asses and tits looking for the perfect body for his girlfriend.

Movies like this only come along once in a great while!! The doctor's crippled assistant has his good arm torn off by a mutant in a closet, played by 7'6" Eddie Carmel. He attacks the doctor as he is getting a victim ready for beheading and tears out his adenoids!! What a classic. This is the full uncut version so have fun with this highly recommended thriller which also stars lovely Virginia Leith as the head that needs a body.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO......

Marjoe Gortner is 69, and Linda Lawson is 76.

THE BIG BLUFF 1955 (ALPHA)

A truly classic film noir.

John Bromfield is a scheming man who is out to marry a woman with a lot of money because she is going to die and he wants the cash. He soon finds out she isn't going to die, so he sets up an elaborate plan to kill her....but something goes terribly wrong.

W. Lee Wilder directed this great little film noir with an ending that really comes out of nowhere and hits you right in the gut. This is great movie making and it's a shame they can't make things like this anymore, but thanks to Alpha we have this little gem to enjoy again and again. Very Highly Recommended.

The rest of the cast for this classic includes Robert Hutton, Martha Vickers, Rosemary Stack and Eve Miller.

MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH 1964 (TGG GROUP)

A unique Vincent Price horror film.

Charles Beaumont took a poem by Edgar Allen Poe and wrote an excellent story and Roger Corman directed this gem with Vincent Price at the lead helm as Prince Prospero a very evil man who terrorizes the peasants and protects his friend from the "Red Death" stalking the land.

Colorful and well made thriller sees Price in all his glory and we also have the always sexy Hazel Court as a woman who is wanting to marry Satan. Jane Asher is the Christian woman Prospero wants to corrupt and uses her father and lover as pawns.

Corman manages to get some lovely color photography and top notch performances from a wonderful cast that also includes Nigel Green, Patrick McGee and Skip Martin. Highly Recommended!!

GENE TIERNEY: A SHATTERED PORTRAIT (FOX)

This is a stunning documentary of the life of one of the most beautiful actresses in movie history.

Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1920 this woman went on to star in some of the most fascinating movies of our time such as Laura, Night And The City, Whirlpool, Leave Her To Heaven and many more.

She died in 1991 from emphysema at the age of 70. She left her mark, she will alway be beautiful in my opinion and if you like older films, I highly recommend this documentary which is included on the disc for the movie Laura.

THE ROAD WARRIORS 2005 (WWE)

2 disc documentary of the greatest tag team in pro wrestling history.

This very well made set includes a great documentary of the rise and fall of the Road warriors, who were the most dominate tag team in wrestling history. Their reign ended when Mike "Hawk" Hegstrand died of a heart attack after getting his life back together after bouts with drugs and alcohol.

Both men grew up as childhood friends and went on to become wrestling legends all over the world. This set shows their matches from AWA, WCW, WWE, and how they rose to the top. If you are a wrestling fan you will no doubt enjoy this very wild ride.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO....

Shirley Eaton is 76, and Pixie Lott is 22.

LAURA 1944 (FOX)

One of the greatest movies ever made!!

Gene Tierney stars as a young woman named Laura, who is assumed to have been murdered by a shotgun blast to the face. The detective investigating the case is played by Dana Andrews and he falls in love with her portrait.

She is soon found to be alive and well and so the investigation takes a bizarre turn. Clifton Webb is one of Laura's lovers as is Vincent Price. Director Otto Preminger knows how to make the story unfold in a typical Film Noir fashion.

Tierney looks simply ravishing and the haunting music score is something that I will never forget. Highly Recommended film noir gem.

TERROR BENEATH THE SEA 1966 (DARK SKY)

A great underrated Japanese Sci-Fi film.

Sonny Chiba and Peggy Neal star in this film about a mad scientist who is attempting to create a race of aquatic beings in a mysterious underwater city.

I have read a lot of very bad things about this film, but it isn't nearly as bad as they say. it's a fun eastern film with cool monsters and insane characters. Good Saturday afternoon viewing and recomme3nded for sci-fi fans.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO.....

Rod Taylor is 83, and Dawn Lyn is 50.
