I KNOW WHO KILLED ME 2007 (TRI STAR)
I think this film has a very interesting idea going for it. Lindsay Lohan is a young woman who is kidnapped and tortured by a madman who also amputates her hand and leg. She manages to escape but claims to be someone entirely different.
The police and her parents attempt to put the puzzle together. Lohan has increasingly bizarre visions and soon is trying to convince everyone that they are real. I won't give anything away, but I will say the ending is very unique and well done.
This movie was unfairly lambasted by everyone who likes to jump on the "razzie" bandwagon, but those folks cannot be taken seriously. Anyhow, check this thriller out, and get past all of the Lohan news and you might be surprised about how good this story really is.
THE MONSTER WALKS 1932 (TREELINE)
People gathered in an old house for the reading of a will are terrorized by an escaped gorilla and a killer.
This is standard by the book filmmaking, but for it's time it is entertaining and the cast includes Sheldon Lewis, Rex Lease, Mischa Auer and Vera Reynolds.
I am sure most of the people reading this have seen the film, but if you haven't and have about an hour to kill, you might want to check it out.
IT HAPPENED IN BROAD DAYLIGHT 1958 (SINISTER CINEMA)
A police detective doubt the guilt of a very obvious suspect in the killing of an 8 year old girl and decides to investigate on his own.
This is a disturbing thriller about a very twisted killer and his needing to kill children. Gert Frobe's performance is perfect and it even made the producers of the Bond film Goldfinger cast him AS Goldfinger.
Produced in West Germany, this tight little thriller will hold your attention and you will notice similarities between this film and Psycho. Highly Recommended!! Thanks to Greg Luce at Sinister Cinema for making this gem available.

TERROR SHIP 1953 (SINISTER CINEMA)
William Lundigan stars in this weird film about a man trying to buy a boat who ends up fighting a small spy ring that is stealing atomic material.
This film has a lot going for it and a lot of interesting twists and turns including vanishing men, kidnapped women and an explosive climax that you won't want to miss. It's always good to see Lundigan in any movie. Recommended.

AUSTIN POWERS IN GOLDMEMBER 2002 (NEWLINE)
Mike Myers returns for the third and final time as both Dr. Evil and Austin Powers. This time Powers must go back to 1975 and find his kidnapped father. Back in the 70's he finds agent Foxy Cleopatra played by Beyonce Knowles.
It seems Dr. Evil is working with Goldmember to wipe out the polar ice caps and flood the earth. The jokes are funny but you can tell the series has run it's course, and there just doesn't seem to be the chemistry between Beyonce and Myers as there was with Heather Graham and Liz Hurley.
I will give the Devil her due and say Beyonce looks very nice in her 70's outfits and handles her acting chores well, but I just wish her character and Powers had more between them. Michael Caine is Powers father and the rest of the cast includes Seth Green, Michael York, Robert Wagner and Mindy Sterling. I will recommend this film as I got a few laughs out of it, and it's not that bad.
THE BIRDS 1963 (UNIVERSAL)
Alfred Hitchcock directed this classic horror film about bird attacks in the town of Bodega Bay near San Francisco. Rod Taylor and beautiful Tippi Hedron star as two people trapped in a house during the attacks.
The movie has no music tracks, which makes it unique for a film from the 1960's, but that helps build up the terror even more. Hitchcock knew exactly how to build terror, and this movie is a shining example of how to do it.
Rounding out the cast is Richard Deacon, Jessica Tandy, Veronica Cartwright and Suzanne Pleshette. Highly Recommended thriller.

WORLD GONE MAD 1933 (TREELINE)
Pat O' Brien is a reporter looking into the murder of a D.A. who uncovered a massive stock fraud. This is pretty cut and dried and the film moves along quickly.
Neil Hamilton and J. Carrol Naish round out the cast of veterans who handle the material well. There are some parts which are dated, but that shouldn't keep you from watching this mildly entertaining film from director Christy Cabanne.
24 HOURS TO KILL 1965 (WARNER ARCHIVE)
Mickey Rooney stars as a man who has stolen a very large sum of money from a gold cartel. He is part of a flight crew that is forced to land in Beirut and then the chase is on.
Lex Barker is Rooney's friend but has a hard time believing the always lying Rooney. Harry Alan Towers produced this film and Peter Welbeck wrote it. Gorgeous Maria Rhom, the wife of Towers has a good role as the secretary to Walter Slezak, the mob boos who wants Rooney dead.
Good action and lovely scenery help this film move along at a brisk pace. Recommended for fans of action adventure.

RIP PATTY ANDREWS 1918-2013
Patty Andrews, the last surviving member of the Andrews Sisters has passed away at the age of 94. There will NEVER be another talented group like the three sisters who created such hits as "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B" and so many more timeless classics.
Nobody captured the home front spirit of the USA during World War 2 as the Andrews Sisters did. A true American legacy has now gone, and the sad thing is we have nothing to replace it with. RIP Patty.
REC 2 2007 (SONY)
This film picks up 15 minutes after the first one ended as a SWAT team prepares to enter the sealed off building and find out what is happening inside.
There are scares in abundance here and the zombie attacks are explained by a priest as being demon possession which is a total surprise. The killings are graphic, but not too much so as the filmmakers would rather scare you than gross you out.
The ending is a very good one and a little bit disturbing, but I won't give it away for those who haven't yet seen this film. I give it a very high recommendation for horror fans.
