SILVER NEEDLE IN THE SKY 1954 (MILL CREEK)

A compilation of three episodes of Rocky Jones, Space Ranger.

Rocky Jones takes several dignitaries to an interplanetary peace conference. Cleolanta a wicked queen of another planet isn't invited so she plans to kidnap the men and exchange them for two of her men being held on Earth and awaiting trial.

This isn't too bad of a feature cobbled from three episodes, but there are times when the story drags a little. Lovely Sally Mansfield is again playing Vena, who helps Rocky save the day. These are children's adventure stories and not meant to be taken too seriously, but I fin them very entertaining.

ABRAXAS, GUARDIAN OF THE UNIVERSE 1991 (MILL CREEK)

Jesse Ventura is an alien cop.

Jessie is Abraxas, a policeman from another world who is in pursuit of an alien from his home planet that impregnates a woman with a mutant embryo.

This is a poor man's "Terminator" but it's a good film that has been unfairly denounced over the years. Marjorie Bransfield is gorgeous as Sonia Murray, the woman who gives birth to an alien child and the alien who is actually his father and who comes back to earth to kill both mother and child is played by Sven-Ole Thorsen whose accent reminds me a lot of Arnold in "Terminator.

Don't listen to all the naysayers, check this out for yourself and see if you don't like it.

MIGHTY PEKING MAN 1977 (LIONSGATE)

Whoa what a movie!

Aka Goliathon, this great movie is about a giant ape that has befriended a beautiful blonde woman he found in the jungle when she was a little girl. Hunters bring the ape and the woman back to civilization and all hell breaks loose.

This is a take off of King Kong and Evelyne Kraft is absolutely gorgeous and is worth watching the film for alone. There is a lot of monster action an the army has a hell of a time stopping the rampaging beast.

The ending is a downer but I really enjoyed this movie and love the cheap special effects from the Shaw Brothers.

SKEETER 1993 (DVD-R)

Interesting monster movie.

Charles Napier is a crooked sheriff of a small desert town that is being invaded by giant mutated mosquitoes that drain a person of their blood very quickly.

William Sanderson is a investigator from the Government and Michael J. Pollard has a very bizarre role, which is nothing new as he is a very bizarre person anyway. The directing is good and the effects aren't the best but not bad for this type of film. The ending of the film is a blast...literally.

If you enjoy grade B horror films and monster movies, I think you'll enjoy this hard to find little gem.

NECROMANCY 1972 (DVD-R)

It has been a long time.....

...since I saw this film...almost 25 years and it was way more than I remembered but that is because I saw the heavily edited version on TV and this was fully uncut.

Orson Wells stars as the head of a witches coven in the small town of Lilth, and he needs the power of a young woman to raise his son from the dead. The woman is played by sexy Pamela Franklin andd when she and her husband go to this town they find they cannot get out.

Pamela tries to convince her husband that something is wrong, but he ignores her and has an affair with another woman. Director Bert I. Gordon puts some mildly bizarre things in this film and some of the images will stay with you. This is perhaps not the best film of it's kind, but it's certainly not the worst. If you can fin this obscure gem, check it out.

KEOMA 1976 (MILL CREEK)

A damn good Italian western.

Franco Nero is Keoma, a half breed who returns to his hometown after serving in the civil war and finding the town taken over by a rebel and his gang of thugs.

Gorgeous Olga Karlatos is a pregnant woman he befriends along the way home and keeps her protected at all costs. This movie was actually improvised before they shot each day, which is remarkable and something nobody could do today.

Keoma must also fight his three half brothers who have joined with Caldwell, the rebel. Good fight scenes, plenty of gun action and a great and bizarre music track make this a real winner all around. Mill Creek presents this in 2.35:1 in a pristine new 35mm transfer. Highly recommended!

RANDY SAVAGE THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION 2009 (WWE)

A must if you're a wrestling fan.

The life and career of one of the greatest wrestlers ever to grace the squared circle is celebrated in this 3 disc set that features Savage in classic matches again Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Honky Tonk Man, Jake Roberts and many, many more.

The matches here are all top notch and every one is entertaining. best of all we get to see the lovely Elizabeth thru the entire DVD. One of the best sets released by WWE and one any wrestling fan will want to own.

BIGFOOT 2012 (ASYLUM)

This was a small surprise.

Barry Williams and Danny Bonaduce star in this off the wal film about a giant bigfoot monster killing and eating people in South Dakota. Both men use various ways to kill the beast, but they all have no effect until they literally blow the monster to bits.

This isn't too bad of a film from the Asylum an it does poke fun at itself and is never taking itself to seriously. Alice Cooper is klilled by the monster while performing at an 80's flashback concert attended by 40 people or less. Howard Hessman is the crooked Mayor and Bruce Davison is a local sheriff as well as the director of this film.\

Recommended for those who want a way to kill 90 minutes.

DEATH MACHINES 1976 (MILL CREEK)

very odd film.

An oriental dragon lady uses a drug on three martial arts experts and turns them into a small army of killers to go after he enemies.

Her plans go astray as the killer begin to think for themselves and begin to turn on the dragon lady. This is a very weird and enjoyable film and one you might like if in the right frame of mind.

Low budget trash is always fun to watch and if you like martial arts and science fiction you will enjoy this little mishmash.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO.....
