RIP BETTA ST. JOHN 1929-2023
The American actress has passed away.
Betta had quite a career and appeared in many TV shows and movies.
She is most fondly remembered for her roles in films like "Tarzan And The Lost Safari", "Tarzan The Magnificent", and "Corridors Of Blood" also with Boris Karloff.
Her best known role for genre fans was that of Patricia Russell in the 1964 classic "City Of The Dead" where she co-starred with Christopher Lee. Hers was always a welcome face in any feature film on TV show she was in.
Betta St. John passed away on June 23rd, 2023 at the age of 93.

DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL 1951 (FOX) BLU-RAY
An outstanding presentation for a classic film.
This Blu-ray is beautiful and presents the film as it should be seen.
Michael Rennie stars as Klaatu, and alien from another world who lands his saucer in Washington D.C. and wishes to speak to all the worlds leaders. Of course he is met with hostility and fear, but he does have a 9 foot robot named Gort to protect him.
Klaatu is shot as he exits his ship and then kept in Walter Reade hospital under "observation". He escapes and decides to go out and see what makes humans the way they are. He is befriended by a young boy named Bobby (Billy Grey) who takes him on an unforgettable tour of DC.
Bobby's mother Helen (Patricia Neal) knows there is something different about "Mr.Carpenter" but she dismisses it quickly. Needless to say Bobby discovers who Carpenter really is and soon the police and military are again after klaatu. This time they kill him.
Klaatu has given Helen some words to speak to Gort after he dies so that the robot does not destroy the entire Earth. Klaatu is brought to simulated life for a short time to speak to the worlds leading scientists and then leave the Earth to it's own.
This is nothing if notone of the best movies ever made. It's handled in a very realistic manner and the characters are all very real. Director Robert Wise will always be remembered for this effort as will all the cast members.
The entire crux of the film is Klaatu trying to explain to the people of Earth that if they continue their present ways the planet will be destroyed. He has as much trouble doing this assomeone explaining to the "women" on The View have understanding how America works.
Anyhow, this is a top rated film that is an American classic. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! The rest of the cast includes Sam Jaffe, Hugh Marlow, Lock Martin and Francis Bavier.

RIP MARGIA DEAN 1922-2023
The stunning actress has passed away.
You might not know her name, but you have seen her in films, especially if you're a Quatermass fan.
Some of her many movie credits include "Revolt Of Mamie Stover", "Mesa Of Lost Women", "Loan Shark", "Superman and The Mole Men" and :The Lonesome Trail".
Her most well known role among movies fans, especially horror fans is as Judith Carroon in the 1955 classic "Quatermass Xperiment". She had many, many roles in TV shows as well and a very long career as a whole.
Margia passed away on June, 23rd, 2023 at the age of 101.

REVENGE OF THE ZOMBIES 1943 (BETAMAX TV)
A fun little low budget Monogram film.
Believe it or not I have not had a chance to see this since I was about 12 years old.
John Carradine stars as Dr. Max Heinrich Von Alterman, a doctor who is trying to raise an army of zombies for the Nazi party in the hopes they will win WW2.
The doctors experiments are interrupter by the arrival of Larry Adams (Robert Lowery) whose sister was Max's wife and she has died under mysterious circumstances.
Unknown to Larry, Max has also turned his dead wife Lila into a zombie as well. Larry doesn't get any clear answers about Lila's death from Max and this causes a lot of problems.
However Max has bigger troubles when he discovers that Lila is, even as a zombie, showing signs of rebellion and attempting to take control of the zombie horde.
This film makes little sense and has plot holes bigger than the Grand Canyon, but damn, it's fun. The rest of the cast includes Gale Storm, Mantan Moreland, Bob Steele, Veda Ann Borg and Madame Sul-Te-Wan.
If you feel like just having fun with an old horror film, this is the one. I actually recommend this little thriller.

SEVENTH GRAVE 1965 (TUBI)
A very rare Italian gothic horror that hasn't been seen much since it's release 48 years ago.
A group of people arrive at a castle in Scotland for the reading of a will and find murder and haunted goings on instead. This is really more of a mystery film that a horror film, but it works either way.
The man who has died was a victim of leprosy and he was experimenting with cell rejuvination. Before the will can be read his body disappears from it's tomb and the caretaker is found hanging by his neck.
This sets up a great mystery and the setting inside an old crunbling castle is perfect. The movie has English subtitles as it was never dubbed into any language.
Trust me, this isn't one of those long lost "gotta see" movies, but for gothic horror fans it is something they should see and it's nice that the film has finally surfaced for horror and mystery fans to see.
If you care to, check it out. The quality is beautiful and the movie moves along at a very good pace.
